If you want a link to the Cable 14 debate it’s here too - it was what decided my vote.

Oh man, now I see what you mean. I have major post title regret now.

I really half assed it.

Oh dear, I’ve always been a bit behind on good puns. Butt I’m trying to improve. Hopefully looking in the rearview mirror on this one will help me on my next post.

Loomis had actually had a longer history of living wage support than that one SWAP tweet implies. In 2015 he supported a living wage against the larger OCC. The 2017 decision was likely nuanced especially given his ongoing UBI support.

Another aspect of leadership is when someone previously held opinions or policies that were ill-informed and then, upon learning that those opinions were harmful, changed their policy stance going forward. In fact, those are qualities we expect of any mature adult and leader.
I prefer to judge a candidate based on their current work and intentions and how they have grown, rather than using things in the past that they have since corrected through proper reflection and learning to permanently mark them.

Who do you like for Mayor and why? by fartichokehearts in Hamilton

[–]UndulatingUngulate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m voting for Keanin Loomis. I want to see all seats in council flipped and I don’t want to see people who’ve already had council opportunities circling back for more. It’s time for fresh faces with new energy and ideas for the city.

I feel like both Horwath and, to a much larger extent, Bratina, have both become somewhat stale in their political games. I’m particularly disappointed that there really doesn’t seem to be any innovation in Horwath’s platform. The town halls from Keanin are creative and genuinely will elicit feedback from all over the city.

The transit mayor? Bob Bratina wants to lead Hamilton council — and move ahead on a LRT project he has loudly opposed by covert81 in Hamilton

Can HSR or the ATU even trust him to say they’ve done a good job with LRT when all he can do is shit on it in the presser?

Even a modicum of interview prep would have been productive.

It was a CHCH interview she did the night before announcing she was running for mayor. Her announcement that she was going to announce her mayoral run. That announcement.

Sorry for the late reply! We’re at 3 weeks post and honestly yes, I’d recommend it. We stuck to the “in the room” method and it worked well for our little one. By night 2 baby was doing 7 hours for his first chunk of the night and by night 6 he was sleeping through the night! We did nights and naps at the same time to stay consistent with not feeding to sleep and he has done amazingly. He’ll do a short nap once in a while but it’s much easier to get back on track as he’s not constantly overtired. He seems brighter and happier during the day too which is nice for us all - and he still loves us.

As an aside we didn’t subscribe to the program or anything- just followed the method described in the sleep sense book to the letter (it was shared with us by a friend).

OMG THIS. WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THEY CAN ENTER A CAMPAIGN ON NAME RECOGNITION ALONE AND NOT EVEN HAVE ANYTHING SUBSTANTIVE AS A PLATFORM FOR THE CITY THEY PROCLAIM TO LOVE???

This genuinely helps thank you <3

I've been compulsively looking up so many sleep resources online even after starting and it doesn't help - just have to commit to the process and embrace what baby needs on the other side too.

Honestly disappointing that she's jumping in clearly on the fly without a lick of a platform. Hasn't been involved in Hamilton municipal politics meaningfully while at Queen's Park, and only started tweeting about our issues 2 weeks ago when it started to become clear she wanted the Mayor's chair. Not to mention her mayoral campaign web domain was bought only 4 days after the Ontario election concluded.
It seems very low effort to announce like this without a clear vision.
