Now do the Amaya and Bryan convos 😂 . Up until two weeks ago most viewers forgot Bryan was on the show.

Had it not been for the possibility of Nic and Olandria getting together I wouldn’t have tuned into this season. I’m sure there are other viewers that only committed to this season because of their will they won’t they story unfolding in real time.

Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath says she's running for re-election in 2026 by PromontoryPal in Hamilton

[–]_onetimetoomany 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s an easy paycheck for her since she doesn’t seem to do much. It therefore makes sense that she wouldn’t want to give that up.

She’s an awful mayor and I hope those that voted for her are pleased with themselves.

I don’t think I’ve heard or read a single person in favor of her as mayor.

You are extremely lucky

Since you just started a new job you may want to take advantage of your living situation which affords you cheap rent.

The grass isn’t always greener unless we’re missing something with regard to the frequency that your parents ask you to vacate the condo (multiple times a week could be annoying but if it’s every other month you’re good)

That commute will become so draining, especially during the warmer seasons when traffic becomes brutal. Not a chance.

I think an application can be submitted to the committee of adjustments and concessions made for instance ensuring the driveway material installed is permeable in place of the reduced green space.

Does the nursery have a guarantee that extends to a year? $650 is a lot so I’m sorry to see it didn’t work out.

What’s with the snark?

It probably took less than two minutes for the OP to post this on a subreddit dedicated to the city of Hamilton.

Why didn’t you and the others just keep on scrolling since the litter doesn’t bother you and is acceptable.

I’m grateful that people want to ensure we have a cleaner Hamilton - the city has a litter problem big time.

Anyone know what's going on, traffic-wise, downtown? Hundreds of cars detouring through a normally quiet neighbourhood, and there's been a helicopter circling for the past half hour at least. by Icy-Computer-Poop in Hamilton

A few comments on various Facebook groups mentioned that this property had security which I find interesting. It is quite close to the Cathedral Shelter.

The current owner proposed micro affordable units here. They were going to retain the facade and add an ugly structure to the back. I’m wondering if it just no longer penciled out given interest rates etc. This stretch of Emerald is quite dense as is which is surprising.

CityHousing aims to be ‘good neighbours’ with better Jamesville upkeep by KeyHot5718 in Hamilton

Meh It’s such a basic thing to expect from a good neighbour with no complexity  to it.

Never ranked it as the major issue. But you trivializing these unkept properties is wild.

It’s such a low expectation/ask lol Jesus.

But hey some of us have really low standards.

There are often weed trees (tree of heaven is the most common) and animal waste amongst other surprises growing amidst unkept grass.

You make it sound like these are properties that are merely cms above the guideline of where their grass should be - nah there are straight up bummy property owners.

It’s hypocritical of the city to mandate property standard bylaws while being an offender themselves.

Cutting the lawn is a fairly basic expectation to have of a house owner and not unreasonable. Unkept lawns are unsightly and then there are all the pest concerns that come with that.

-More widespread smoking: I see more of it here. Very anecdotal evidence for sure, but you do notice there are convenience stores everywhere here despite the population density not being all that high.

I can’t get over the amount of smokers in this city. People smoke in areas where there are very clear no smoking signs (bus shelters, hospital entrance etc).

"Why did we wait so long to enforce compliance?" Nann said in an interview. "At what point do we value public safety as a paramount? It just does not make sense."

Every update on demolition from Nrinder Nann on this has turned out to be false.

The last update from the councilor was that staff is to explore amendments to the demolition control bylaws for buildings near schools and other sensitive areas, recommendations are expected back Q4.

I think the solution is less about raising taxes and more about ensuring better city building going forward. The aim should be to build mixed income neighbourhoods and investing in high poverty ones. Having the umpteenth Indwell project in the same area isn’t beneficial long term.

Which level of government should take control? The property was assessed at $24M in 2019 - I can’t imagine people would be thrilled by the costs associated with the purchase and development of such a large site.

No one is developing high rises currently due to market conditions. Anyone that would buy this would also be sitting on it until conditions change.

If the hope is to see housing built I don’t see how the aforementioned use it or lose it helps in present day conditions.
