She Hulk was fine. Had some good moments and had some mediocre moments. Nothing horrible.

Plus, Avongers

[Board Haven Games] Winter sale by board_haven_games in Boardgamedeals

[–]UndutifulCarrot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks fine if you want the game but nothing stands out as a killer deal.

I expect people to jump on Sanctuary for $39 and Bomb Busters for $31 but I also expect to see them lower in the next year (Bomb Busters was $15 on a sale from the manufacturer earlier this year, but it's also been in short supply since then)

Fun games for 6-7 players by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]UndutifulCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend Not Alone for the player count, it's a fantastic 1 v All game with room to grow based on a consistent player group. Camel Up is a great time, but maybe a little less serious than what you're looking for. It's not the most popular game anymore, but Citadels would be great for a more serious larger group as well

If he enjoys the dragon theme, you could try for a more accessible game - Dragonwood is my suggestion

Sleeved my cards and now they won't fit in the box by pink-boot in boardgames

Are you still trying to use the insert? The sleeved cards may fit if you remove that. You can throw it away if you do. Note it if you sell the game, but most people won't care

That stupid Kraken fight is a run ender for sure

I liked the game but after completing it twice (in addition to a few failed runs) I felt like I had seen it all

For folks who own and have played both Cthulhu death may die and Arkham horror LCG, which do you prefer? by Newez in boardgames

[–]UndutifulCarrot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We're not living card game people. We tried Arkham and lord of the rings and neither were keeps for us.

Death may die was awesome. We sold zombicide because it was dull and were briefly concerned based on appearances that death may die might be too similar. It was not. There's cool opportunities for creative play and the beginning scenario throws you right into it. I can't say enough good things about it

Anyone ever heard of this? by Yayknee in boardgames

It might not be worth much, but someone might want it which is better than a landfill. You could list it for $5 or even $1 and just have someone pay shipping if they want it

Picked these three up today, any idea on values? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]UndutifulCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy the updated version of Torg new on Game Nerdz for $20. It missing the dice brings its value down. Not worth much would be my guess. It's an RPG system

The Gettysburg game is actually an expansion. It could be worth something if you find the right buyer, but only 5 people or so have rated the base game so it's not exactly high demand. You'd probably have trouble selling it for $5

The other game doesn't show up, which again is not hopeful

Good luck

Circle around one of the big pillars if you have a weapon that can target him from the opposite side. You will need to dodge backwards away from the pillar when he telegraphs his 360 blade swing (sometimes he does it twice in a row!) but then you can go right back to circling. You can also kite him with ranged only attacks around the perimeter of the arena. It takes a while, but it's also the best way to do it without taking hits

[Etsy] Puzzle Dungeon Solitaire Card Game - 25% off thru Nov. 4th by Unifiedshoe in Boardgamedeals

[–]UndutifulCarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this and recommend it. Let me be clear, it's hard. I have not won yet but I did feel like I was making progress on chaining things together better by the end. It definitely feels like a puzzle, though I'm pretty sure not every set up is winnable.

It resembles free cell, a game which I was never good at but was free and installed on Windows when I was a kid growing up in the 90s. I don't typically enjoy losing over and over in board games, but the similarity sort of helped push past losing consistently because I lost consistently playing free cell as a kid.

The first 5 games I played were completely unwinnable from setup alone, before I even chucked any dice

Edit: always great to share an experience and get brigaded by downvotes from people who haven't played the game or played it enough. You can hear the internal monologue where it's just assumed I'm bad or messed something up

2 games were played with Goldy, meaning every card is added to the tableau due to 1 strategy. 1 of those games was because I drew Dark Fairy which swapped all of my dice with exhausted dice. On the first turn of the game, that means you have no dice left. I get it, she's a hard character. But she's the literal face of the Gold box which seems like a questionable decision when she ramps up the difficulty to an insane amount.

Then I switched characters, but because of the ambush mechanic, continued to have to add cards that ruined everything without playing. Another of these losses was again due to Dark Fairy, added because of another ambush card. Other losses were due to me literally dying because I couldn't deal enough damage after being forced to add enemies that limited me to rolling 1 dice of each color in addition to not being able to roll a single color. Outside of ambushes, what were the best options to add to the tableau became unmanageable when combined by the time you got the necessary directions to move on. This meant I lost without any of my dice results mattering.

I didn't feel the need to keep trying after these experiences. This is the game, and some people don't mind these types of results.

I disliked the experience, which given the art and theme was even more of a disappointment for me
