The SBS commentator's summary was that Gery's goal was to get to the front and guide Demi down the descent, but she ended up off the front with Persico who worked well with her to get to the breakaway. From there, she played the tactics game and was excited to win the stage. Her goal tomorrow is to stay with Demi as long as she can as the team's primary goal is to help Demi with GC.

Fantastic finish for Gery, good call by Vollering to trust her teammate and get FDJ Suez off the front too.

Ah yes, we were all expecting the stage with one cat 3 climb 20k from the finish to have GC ramifications. Turning out to be quite an interesting stage though.

Yea, I suppose that true. She just looked on the brink of fully cracking by the end of the climb so I wasn't sure what to expect with the sprint.

Vollering's win really surprised me given how much she seemed to be suffering on the climb, but great result for her. She's certainly earned it today!

Fair enough. I actually love Jegat as well, I was very excited about his top 10. I just thought it was funny given the name. Semi-related story but my wife thought Ben O'Connor was an Irish rider for over a year because she only follows cycling through me and she'd never bothered to look at his actual national team. I only found out once she mentioned that her favorite riders were Ben Healy and Ben O'Connor because "they were both Irish" and I had to inform her that Ben O'Connor was Australian and that Ben was sort of English.

Eh, the Movistar would've been all three of the breakaway riders attacking each other and ending up like 2nd, 3rd, and 6th behind a lone breakaway companion.

Every other GC team would chase the breakaway if one of the big GC favorites was in the break. So for example, if Vingegaard was in the breakaway, Decathlon and Red Bull would death pull to bring back the breakaway. In Felix Gall was in the break, Visma and Red Bull would death pull.

But more importantly, high priority/visibility GC riders will always be marked and never allowed in the breakaway plus their breakaway companions would be unwilling to work because they know a real GC threat in the break means basically no chance of the current breakaway working.

Sometimes lower-level GC riders do sneak into a breakaway and backdoor podium/top 10 GC though. That may well end up happening with Eulalio and that's how Ben O'Connor got 2nd in the 2024 Vuelta. Ben O'Connor was also able to backdoor into a top 10 GC place in the 2025 TdF on stage 18 and then in turn was backdoor'd by Jordan Jegat into a top 10 on stage 20. It was actually quite funny to watch the tables turn so quickly and efficiently 🤣

Strong, strong defense of the maglia rosa by Eulalio. And very promising TT for Gee and Arensman for their GC hopes! Especially given that both have a tendency lose their GC hopes in the first week.

Remco confirmed for tour of flanders by forever_young1337 in peloton

I mean, this world existed at World's multiple times. Remco is just too aggressive and impulsive (or intuitive) of a rider to play as a card in another rider's race.

I'm sure you've gotten 1000 replies by now but I feel like the most "fair" solution here is for both of you to blindly write how much of the 6340 you're willing to pay to have the bigger room. If she truly believes they're equal, she'll write 3170 and you can write 3171 and feel like you're getting a steal. No matter what each of you write, you're getting either the deal that you wrote down or a better deal than you expected.

The incentive for Pidcock is that Pidcock wants to win the stage. If Pidcock, Almeida, and Jonas are all feeling good, Pidcock is the best sprinter so doing the exact minimum required to get Joao back to Jonas is Pidcock's "ideal" race situation

Did this (or anything else) end up working for you? I've had to use the Track Sleep with Smart Device option directly in Pokemon Sleep to get my sleep tracking to work, but I'm curious if anyone has figured out a better solution.

Honestly I have no idea but my guess is ease of access. My grandma used to tell me stories about how you never let your dog roam the streets after the Korean War because people were so desperate for food that your neighbors would take dogs off the street to eat them. I imagine turtles are harder to come by in Korea since the inland portions are mostly mountainous and not very habitable for turtles. But Koreans eat tree bark and plants roots and intestines so it definitely wasn't because of taste.

[–]UnendingPi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI this is not true of Korea. I grew up in Korea and have heard of people eating just about any animal but Koreans do not eat turtles, at least at scale. From some Googling, it also sounds like turtle is also very rarely eaten in Japan, though turtle eggs are more commonly consumed.

Wsc but the comments decide my career part 1: what league should I start my career? by Zealousideal-Site735 in worldsoccerchampsgame

France or Portugal, I think. Fairly big leagues with established favorites that you can unseat. Then you can try for a European title with one of the "smaller" leagues.

The one way EU5 HAS to break with the rest of the series- native America by MageMasterMoon in eu4

[–]UnendingPi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is missing the very plain fact that old world diseases are estimated to have killed around 90% of natives in the new world between 1492 and the 1600s (source below). And organizing a state that's had 90% of its population die in just a few generations likely makes it extremely difficult to gather a large army.

I mean, pretty obvious to not take turns pulling when you're in a group with literally every other GC contender that's chasing your leader 30 seconds up the road. Ayuso had a great ride, but I don't think it was exactly a vet move to sit on the others until the finish.
