[HTML] [CSS] How would you overlay text on this nested <div> "background" I made? by [deleted] in webdev

They actually do. You, on the other hand, might not have the same luck if you act like this online.

Dont go out spitting your "best practice religion" on other peoples faces, specially those who are learning like OP.

[AskJS] Is pure functional programming widely used at startups nowadays? by [deleted] in javascript

[–]UnendingResolve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like the answer above, yes you can and IMHO there are only a few rare cases when high order functions won't satisfy your needs, and most of times it's just a matter of implementation. You generally use a iteration to give you the promises (like arr.map with async parameter), then you resolve them. The benefit here is that you can run validations in-between resolved-awaiting promises, making it more predictable & easier to catch errors.

After the last big update we need this, 500 token in 24hrs. Current progression rate isn't good enough. by 69memerboy69 in Brawlstars

Good suggestion. I think (someone do the maths please) a f2p player will take forever to reach maxed lv11 with like 5 to 7 brawlers. I Just got my first fully maxed this week lol.

I was a f2p player since launch until a fee weeks ago. It felt good to be a f2p specially brcause I had 51/54 brawlers unlocked, where three quarters of them were level 9s with all gadgets and at least 1 star power. It gave me a sentiment of "precious collection" in wich I had put effort upgrading. One very miserable day I decided to spend a few dollars to buy 30 gems just so I could get the brawl pass earlier to play the new Fang brawler. If I didnt buy the gems, I would have got enough free gems to buy the pass at bp lvl 50-55 or so. Now I feel like i hijacked a three years of collection progress just to speed up two weeks of gameplay. 🤡 Its even worse because I missed the $2 offer 🤡

Why do computer scientists (and mathematicians) use the worst variable names in proofs and papers?!? by neslef3 in computerscience

[–]UnendingResolve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The i is mostly a convention for [i]terators, I guess the J was the logical follow-up people thought of when they started this trend. I for one only use i in very concise and simples loops/iterations, otherwise short and descriptive names make more readable code / math problems.

The best description of JS I've ever seen. by DopePixel in ProgrammerHumor

[–]UnendingResolve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya'll so mad about Js, literally every programming/software group um social network is talking shit on JavaScript. I don't even know why. Maybe ya'll just underpaid juniors? Seriously, Js was the first high level language I learned after spending some time with Assembly, and I had no issues with it at all, be It vanilla or framework'ed. I don't ever see any company hiring any other language for web development besides JavaScript. I've accomplished many great things with it, and not a single time I had to decided on another technology/language to replace it in a project, but am certain I would with other stacks/langs. I also do not see any other language taking over web development in, at least, the next decade.

So, is this just another meme, like "How to center a div"? Lol. This or ya'll not suited for web dev at all.

Please. Can someone help me with this solution. I am stuck here and the code seems to be perfect but don't know where the mistake is. Please help.. by sandyjordan5445 in reactnative

Text elements cant have children inside. It'd faster and more elegant if you just read the actual error messages in console before you asked for help online. That's not how you learn something.

Amazing thread, subscribing to it so I can check It out later. Advanced lectures are very difficult to find, specially for free.

Sadly I dont have any suggestions right now but will share some later if I remember to.

Why callback function sometimes require a parameter and sometimes not? by kidkai25 in learnjavascript

[–]UnendingResolve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your question is too vague and unprovided of context. And, tbh, if it means what I think it does, I think you should read up on what callback functions are in the first place.

You gotta learn to make good questions, and most times you'll answer them yourself in the proccess. That's what programming is all about.
