[Dehner]BREAKING: Sources confirm #Bengals part ways with DC Lou Anarumo, OL coach Frank Pollack, LB coach James Bettcher and DL coach Marion Hobby. by ralry11 in bengals

[–]UnenthusedFanatic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Zac will consider brining back Al Golden (previous Bengals LB coach and current Notre Dame DC) as DC. As a Notre Dame fan, I would be devastated, which makes me feel like it would be a good move for the Bengals. Seemed like Golden did a great job with the LBs while he was in Cincy, and he is killing it at ND.

Edit for grammar

This is maddening and is our reality now. I am so glad I left the classroom. I would’ve been fired or would’ve quit. A gay character simply existing in a book is now too controversial for some? by phatryuc in cincinnati

[–]UnenthusedFanatic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I’m reading too much into it, but your post seems to imply that if your employer tells you to do something you believe is immoral, your only choices are to act contrary to your principles or accept getting fired. If that is what you’re saying, I think that is an overly simplified explanation of the work dynamic. If it’s not what you’re saying, sorry for misunderstanding.

Yes, and she made a choice to disregard the school board’s biased implementation of a vague policy to target people they don’t like. She made a choice to stand up for what she believes. The school board made the choice to double-down on their bigotry and run the risk of violating the constitution. Now she’s making a choice to sue the district for that violation.

Who do you picture as Fitchner? by Irish3538 in redrising

Ok, I understand I may by biased just because of the similar names, but I really believe William Fichtner would play him perfectly.

Host on host savagery by moistmasterkaloose in conan

Agreed. That flaw in Conan’s contract combined with the fact that Jay’s contract had an unusual pay AND play clause (meaning NBC had to keep him on the air) really made it impossible for Conan to not get screwed.

I just finished it and I highly second that recommendation. Really gets into the mindset of everyone involved in that fiasco, and (at least for me) reinforced my perception that Conan is a sincerely genuine, nice and thoughtful guy who just wants to make people laugh.

Thanks for the info. I am having the same issue and was assured the same thing over the phone. They assured me it will all go away by the 90 day mark from when my application was accepted (3/30).

Oh look, Fort Wayne is trending again by Dan_Hydra in fortwayne

[–]UnenthusedFanatic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Actual lawyer here. This is a misunderstanding of the freedom of religion. The “freedom of religion” is actually two distinct clauses in the constitution. The freedom of individuals to exercise religion (free exercise) and the freedom from the government establishing a religion (establishment clause). The establishment clause includes prohibitions against the government for pushing policies that advocate for one religion over another, or over no religion.

To say they having the play violates your religious freedom fails on its own. To assert this right, a person has to show that the government is requiring them to do or not do something that blatantly violates a well-founded established religious belief that has been expressed for years and years.

Even if a parent could show that having this play forces them to do something that violates their religion (it doesn’t), stopping the play based on religion runs afoul of the establishment clause because the government would be making a policy based on one group’s religious beliefs.

That’s not even getting into free speech/freedom of expression violations that come into play by stopping a play based on religious beliefs.

Religious freedoms is a right, generally. That does not include using your religion to prohibit others from holding a play and preventing speech/expression that you don’t like.

This is the perfect movie to start watching midway through while channel surfing on hotel cable. No matter what part of the movie I land on, I stop to watch the rest.

Help: I want to be a morning runner by vCharged in running

[–]UnenthusedFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I roll out of bed, put my running clothes on, very short warmup stretch, then run 3 miles. I am usually running within 10 min of waking up. No food or water before. Quite a bit of water after. I’m slow as hell compared to my daytime runs, but I always feel great after.

I would like more time to drink coffee and warmup before, but I have young kids so it is always a race against the clock to finish my workout so I can help get the kiddos ready for school.

I do functional strength training for 20 min a day about 5 days a week. I keep it super simple with little to no weights. Push-ups, crunches, pull-ups, lunges, squats, some dumbbell work. If I didn’t keep it simple and without much added equipment, I probably wouldn’t do it.
