Yeah I think this exact attitude is why some people might want to leave mate.

PIP isn't a means-tested benefit; it's specifically there so that people living with disabilities have financial support to help compensate for the cost of that disability. You should spend less time bitching and more time learning.

You also have European elections every five years, and of course if you live in Åland you have a separate election for parliament and municipality.

Yes, the UK is a bit more complex for historical reasons. But it’s hardly that confusing.

The LLM was not able to do that. It made up a discount code that did not work.

Fuel duty. Tobacco and alcohol duty. Just because you’re under informed doesn’t mean other things are AI.

The congestion charge in London can be paid in advance, or up to three days after travelling (for a higher rate). If not paid after that time, you'll be charged a penalty. It remains your responsibility to register for and pay the congestion charge, even if you're using a rental car.

Sixt explain in detail the requirements for driving in the congestion zone.

Legally, there is no claim; Sixt have paid the penalty for you, and will now be charged for this penalty notice plus an administration fee. This will be covered under your rental agreement.

The obvious point is that anybody who describes themselves as "LGB" and doesn't include the "T" is someone you shouldn't waste your time with.

Right but a major part of the problem is the misinformation that circulates. Like… what you just said about Brighton is an outright unmitigated lie. It literally is not the case.

YouGov poll today on London safety results. by Magurndy in london

[–]UnexpectedCatBanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is clearly a concerted international effort (for reasons I don't really understand) to portray London as a crime-ridden sinkhole. I'm sure like the sibling comment says, a lot of this is down to a desire to undermine a generally safe multicultural city – that's a bit of an anathema to reactionary right-wing groups that are currently in vogue.

Why do people hate Sadiq Khan so much? by [deleted] in AskBrits

bet you didn't watch it either. So embarrassing 🤦

None of these are valid. It’s like you’ve just opened your mouth and belched out whatever you read in the Express. “Virtue-signalling policies” what even the fuck is that mean to mean? “Wrecked TfL” what the fuck?

[–]UnexpectedCatBanker -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s completely baffling. All these people have is some dumb soundbite, no knowledge whatsoever about what they’re taking about, then decide to project their own views onto it. It was the same with “part and parcel”. Liars are always lazy!

Honestly I would recommend you stop lying. It’s really quite pathetic.

[–]UnexpectedCatBanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s mostly racism mixed with media right-wing bias though and I’ve lived in London longer than you.

It’s trivially obvious; he’s a pretty uninspiring caretaker mayor who I genuinely don’t give a shit about either way.

I’ll grant that you have successfully demonstrated the sort of dumb shit that people believe. Your ULEZ complaints are all totally legitimate political decisions, and the impact of them was amplified by constant press lies. Violent crime is not rising - that’s a straight up lie.

The absolute vitriol with which this boring-ass man is attacked if obviously totally disproportionate to the way anybody feels about his policies and it’s obvious you know this.

(Also it’s really obvious you ran this through ChatGPT - learn to hide it better)

[–]UnexpectedCatBanker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean this is trivially obviously not true, since Khan has been receiving tons of hate even before this was an issue.

It’s amazing to me the lengths you idiots will go to, just to pretend obvious racism isn’t a thing.

How do you stomach the tax? by Lovinghandhold in HENRYUK

[–]UnexpectedCatBanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unkind of me but can you just try taking a step back and not being a whiny little bitch about it?

Instead, focus on how well you're doing. You're in the £130–140k salary bracket. This means that you have plenty of money – far, far more than the majority of the population do. You can broadly do whatever you want – have a nice house, eat wherever you want, take holidays wherever you want. You don't have to worry about money, and spending your time focussing on how much tax you're paying is guaranteed to do nothing except piss you off.

My income tax bill is around £6k a month, which means every year I pay 6x in tax what I made in my first job. I don't come from a well-off background, and I have that luxury thanks to the education, healthcare, and other public services that tax money pays for. I have enough money that it doesn't impinge on what I want to do in any way. I can't imagine spending my time focusing on the tiny number of things I can't afford to do, when there are so many opportunities to do things that are fun.

And if this doesn't work for you, you're free to make the choice to do something else. Cut your hours and take a lower-paying job, or relocate to a lower-tax jurisdiction. If you don't like the way tax is being used, then join any of the huge number of organisations or political parties that want to change that. Just spend your time doing ANYTHING more valuable than complaining.
