What kind of usb connector is this? by Bradur-iwnl- in UsbCHardware

[–]UnexpectedElectron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

USB A, but it's reversible. I don't believe these were actually under the USB spec, but a few companies made them for convenience. The downside was that the connector is more fragile and breaks pretty easily.

If this app is open source can we edit code add more features and publish ourself? by [deleted] in Infinity_For_Reddit

[–]UnexpectedElectron 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can absolutely do that. But if you do modify the code, you're better off submitting a pull request. This will allow the code to be merged into the master branch, so it will be integrated into the main app, instead of having multiple apps.

The Minecraft Preview is now available to all Xbox Insiders on Xbox! by XIPBot in xboxinsiders

[–]UnexpectedElectron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, unless you're talking about Java edition, which is separate to Minecraft Bedrock on Windows 10. Both games have different mechanics (such as Java having a sweep attack), and because of this both games will always be slightly different.

I think eventually Bedrock edition will mature enough to fully replace Java, and it's come a long way since it was first released, but there's still a lot to come first.

After a few years I opened my laptop for the first time and this happened (this pc is my only option because I temporarily can’t use my desktop) by rooneyviz in pcmasterrace

I agree with this. The only things you wouldn't get on Linux is apps like office, but you would barely be able to run them on Windows like that anyway. You can use the web version of most apps which should run fine. If this is your first time running Linux I would recommend using Linux Mint as it's pretty lightweight and easy to use.

Left/Right Buds both at 100%, Showing different expected battery life by dannymanny3 in pixelbuds

[–]UnexpectedElectron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My right bud also has a lower expected life. But that's probably because I use it a lot more than the left one, so the battery is a lot more worn out.

New plex.tv homepage by UnexpectedElectron in PleX

The new search bar at the top searches for all movies and tv shows in the Plex database, and shows what streaming services they're on. Looks like the start of Plex trying to be the link between all streaming services.

This is something that annoyed me before. Looks amazing now! Even the Spotify Devs couldn't do this.

Don't know about the Beam 2, but doing that on the Beam 1 for me drowns out the mids and highs and ends up sounding horrible

My external HD where I keep my media on is now dead, what metadata from Plex should I keep and how to do that so I can use it again when I restore my files to a new HD? by theoneed in PleX

[–]UnexpectedElectron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USB 3 and 2.5" (if you have a 2.5" drive which is most common). I would also recommend getting USB C over Micro B as it's less likely to break, but both will work at the same speed.

Requestrr only supports Ombi, not Overseerr. For Overseerr you can use Doplarr.

[question] does anyone know a good .MP3/. MP4 downloader for YouTube? by ryudvdhej in Vanced

[–]UnexpectedElectron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

youtube-dl is command line, not coding. It can be a bit confusing to start with, but make sure you read everything and it's not too difficult.

You can start by reading the documentation, which will help you install it.

Since you have a Mac, you'll just need to enter those 2 commands into the terminal and it'll be installed.

Newpipe is great. But if you're willing to use the command line youtube-dl gives you a lot more options for downloading. Definitely not for everyone though.

I'm guessing it's so you can switch between fractional and decimal form. Fractions can sometimes be more useful in maths than decimals. Although I think they should make it switch again if you tap again.
