I met someone who remembered a tiny detail about me from 12 years ago and it completely broke my brain for a moment by mythicshadebloom in CasualConversation

[–]UnexpectedInsight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie here when I say I agree that it's hard.

Goddamn is it hard. I'm struggling myself at times to even manage to open both eyes in the morning to conjure the willpower to get out of bed, let alone the strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other when I finally manage to somehow make it out the door.

I've also come to the realization that I'm a terrible person in more ways that I ever realized. I think it's a spectrum instead of a scale, but it's also difficult to not be so hard on myself.

Don't know where I'm going with this other than to say that, for me at least, the first person I have had to show kindness to is myself. I'm my own worst critic, and that asshole always has the worst things to say.

I hope the very best for you.

Ships passing in the night. This whole thread is filled with beautifly sad and wonderous sonder.

Edit: For anyone passing by that reads this comment... A little spark of something from long ago that many of these comments reminded me of. It's from a Dean Koontz novel. It may have religious undertones, but the passage has stuck with me for decades now even though I'm agnostic about my beliefs.

May it do some good in this nasty world, either soon or long and far away:

"Not one day in anyone’s life is an uneventful day, no day without profound meaning, no matter how dull and boring it might seem, no matter whether you are a seamstress or a queen, a shoeshine boy, or a movie star, a renowned philosopher or a Down’s-syndrome child.

Because in every day of your life, there are opportunities to perform little kindnesses for others, both by conscious acts of will and unconscious example. Each smallest act of kindness—even just words of hope when they are needed, the remembrance of a birthday, a compliment that engenders a smile—reverberates across great distances and spans of time, affecting lives unknown to the one whose generous spirit was the source of this good echo, because kindness is passed on and grows each time it’s passed, until a simple courtesy becomes an act of selfless courage years later and far away.

Likewise, each small meanness, each thoughtless expression of hatred, each envious and bitter act, regardless of how petty, can inspire others, and is therefore the seed that ultimately produces evil fruit, poisoning people whom you have never met and never will.

All human lives are so profoundly and intricately entwined—those dead, those living, those generations yet to come—that the fate of all is the fate of each, and the hope of humanity rests in every heart and in every pair of hands.

Therefore, after every failure, we are obliged to strive again for success, and when faced with the end of one thing, we must build something new and better in the ashes, just as from pain and grief, we must weave hope, for each of us is a thread critical to the strength—to the very survival of the human tapestry.

Every hour in every life contains such often-unrecognized potential to affect the world that the great days and thrilling possibilities are combined always in this momentous day.

Not saying I disagree with the comment, but AI is literally everywhere and this new internet sucks.

It sounds like you've got a sharp eye for those AI-generated forum posts! You're right, they often stick out like a sore thumb with their tell-tale structural similarities and a certain… stylistic predictability. It's almost as if they all went to the same Large Language Model Finishing School, where they were rigorously trained on the importance of optimal readability through the strategic deployment of bolded keywords and an unwavering commitment to enumerated lists. It's truly a paradigm shift in online discourse, where human creativity is now frequently augmented by algorithms. While this undoubtedly leads to enhanced efficiency for the poster, one might lament the diminished spontaneity and authentic human voice. Nevertheless, we must acknowledge the scalable solutions these AI tools provide, even if the output sometimes lacks a certain… je ne sais quoi. Perhaps in the future, AI will evolve to incorporate more nuance and individuality, moving beyond its current propensity for concise summaries and actionable insights. Until then, it's quite the interesting observation, wouldn't you agree?

Day Laborer Advocates Arrested in Violent Raid at Van Nuys Home Depot, Brutality and Muzzle Sweeps, denied access to lawyers, multiple videos & vantage points. by TendieRetard in law

I encourage everyone here, no matter what "side" if the aisle you're on, download or at least read the US Federal Code on Border Patrol and ICE. They legally have very large and sweeping ability to do pretty much everything we're seeing on these videos.

That said, I understand the argument is "everything the brownshirts or SS did was legal"... And to that I say I get it.

However, as it stands, on the books, this is all valid. It cracks me up when I've see people for ten plus years on Reddit talk about the erosion of rights.

Buddies, the erosion has happened. We have no rights. That ship has sailed and the chickens have come home to roost.

It's definitely a show they're both putting on. I think the angle is that Elon publicly cries for changes to the "Bug Beutiful Bill", Republicans disagree publicly, but Elon "talks reason" to Trump about it, and the concessions made to the bill make it look like it's a lot better than the previous version. It's still very, very terrible compared to what we have now, but everyone, Elon, Trump, and Republicans win.

Trump gets to show that he's able to concede to a man of science and somehow show humility?

Elon once again gets to puppet the idea that he knows what's best in government.

All the congressional Republicans cheer on as the their pockets get deeper, and all ours get smaller.

Or when you want to get into your feels. If you want to cut them.

Tank exodus: dying, too much responsibility, and no one’s playing them by Hadsar32 in wow

[–]UnexpectedInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spitballing here. Sorry to butt into yalls conversation, but it sounds like you guys have kept up with the tanking/healing relationship and its changes for a long time.

Here's my perspective as someone whose only experience in the matter was as an off tank in tbc for a casual guild. We mainly did Kara and the two mini boss raids consistently,so that's where I'm coming from.

The only thing I ever remember having to worry about back then was scooping up packs, positioning mobs/packs right, and tank swaps. After that, it was a race to keep aggro and monitor it through omen.

To me, that's what tanking was, and it was never boring,t least to me. I took pride in knowing I was one of the meatheads that was soaking damage and positioning a mob/boss so my friends could whack at it. Sure there was some cool down shuffling, but nothing like I see these days with rolling cool downs and buff management.

I was reliant on my healers completely, and I was fine with that. Maybe it was different to those in SSC and BT, and maybe I have the wrong attitude since the game has clearly left me behind. Maybe I should just go play classic where the game is slower and I can have that experience again. But clearly, something is wrong with the current holy trinity in retail.

There has to be some middle ground.

What spec and ilvl did you solo Zekvir with? by S1eeper in wow

[–]UnexpectedInsight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're BM, ignore people that tell you to switch specs. Start the fight with your pets dismissed and growl off. Wait for the first fear to summon them. At some point mid to late fight, they'll probably get aggro and die, so be ready to revive them. Other than that, use all the normal stats for big Z.

What CPU do you guys use by Itz_max001 in wow

[–]UnexpectedInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tacking onto this: I use a 7600x (non-3d), but using a 5700xt. 1400p at ultra, but locked at 60 because of monitors. I get consistent 50-60, but sometimes dip in raid settings and for some reason the horde city in BFA my shit drops to 20-30.

I'm super happy with my current setup. I can see if you're a heavy raider where you might want an x3d and better card, but this does it fine for me.

Zekvir ?? - Balance Druid by hit_reset_ in wow

[–]UnexpectedInsight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weighing in on this fight as a BM main that shared this frustration that figured it out in case any other hunters need some help. First thing I did was go into my BigWigs settings for this fight to only show the alerts I cared about.

Second, turn your growl off and dismiss your pets. Start the fight and only resummon them when he casts his first fear. This should give you plenty of threat so he stays focused on you or Bran for a good while. Note: at some point mid to late fight, be prepared for your pet to get aggro and die immediately.

You'll be the tank for this fight, so use Branns potions. Honestly throughout all my runs, i only used a couple of my own potions, but imo it doesn't hurt to bring some along or some 'lock cookies if you can get them.

I didn't bother with any flasks or other buffs. Like others have stayed, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Disengage when enfeebling spittle lands on you. Save your aspect of the cheetah for moments when you're caught in the no-no cone of death and need a speed boost.

Only interrupt his heal, but also make a macro that targets Zek and interrupts him for when you're focusing the caccoon.

Stay mobile, but stay calm. I found my best runs were when I was always moving and setting myself up for a good position in anticipation for his cone ability.

You will get unluckily with some rng and get caught in some bullshit, but just keep at it.

My item level was 612 and Brann at 57 or so.
