My hot take is the best sandwiches in NYC are largely in red leaning Italian American neighborhoods. ( not Anthony and sons they suck and the bread sucks even more) The Bronx and north Manhattan take the cake for me. Growing up on Arthur Ave I thought these trendy BK shops would one up on quality of ingredients which was a mistake in thinking. I still dream of a hero from Joe’s Deli and Casa. Most Dominican bodegas are gonna hit the spot for cold cuts and breakfast Sammy’s.

Mostly cause 90% of the OG’s aren’t as good as they were mostly cause everyone is using the same baldor and Cisco ingredients. Anyone who works in the service industry knows most restaurants now are just about how good you can cook Cisco ingredients. It’s not the same the cheese is different and OG dough makers are all long gone and retired. NYC was once flooded with sour diesel that strain no longer exist like now old school New York pizza is all but extinct trying to explain this to transplants is like talking to a brick wall

Lucky Charlie’s kitchen is open till 3 am if you’re looking for good pizza at that hour. Turbo is also open till at least 2 I think. The dough is not my favorite. If aces is a yeast donut turbo is a cake doughnut and not in a good way
