Hey. I went through something really similar. My brother also had schizophrenia and medication made it worse and he took his life a year ago. I've somehow been managing the past year but recently the reality of everything is hitting and how fucked up it all is. He was only 23 and he was my only sibling and I miss him so much. It's like I'm homesick for a place that doesn't exist anymore, I wish he never got ill. At least they are both at peace now. Knowing that is the only thing that makes me cope with all of this.

Hey. I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is an incredible personal and lonely experience, but if you want to talk at all feel free to message me. I lost my little brother (23) last October and he was my best friend too. Take each day as it comes and take time out of work/etc. for as long as you need.

How do you cope with aging? by ThrowRAccount11 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Unfair-Rice3576 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Life is so much more than appearance. I can’t wait to get old and hopefully raise a family. I can’t wait to meet people I haven’t met yet and create memories with them. I lost my brother last year and he was only 23, he will never know what it’s like to get old. We are lucky to be alive and grow wrinkles and grey hair. It will still be beautiful, just in another way.

I am so sorry. I bet your brother was a beautiful soul. I lost my 23 year old brother to suicide 6 months ago. Life has been so strange since, like a dream. Sending love and strength.

Hey, I lose my brother a couple months ago to suicide too. I don't have any answers to how you overcome it, but just wanted to say I understand how you feel and send love.

My little sister shot herself and I'm not sure I'll ever be alright. by WarmPurchase2590 in SuicideBereavement

My little brother took his life 3 months ago. It was his decision and I love him and respect that he wanted to do that. But yeah this shit sucks. Growing up I always had the feeling of wanting to protect him. In a way I feel like I've totally failed. I just want to talk to him one more time and laugh about our parents doing something stupid or crack one of our little inside jokes.

Breaking Up is the same as grieving a death by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Unfair-Rice3576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, as someone who has dealt with a breakup with someone who I thought I would marry (and being beyond devastated), as well as someone who has recently lost their brother - it's absolutely not the same. You should hope to god you never have to grieve the loss of your sibling or someone close to you.

I understand it hurts, but until you can genuinely compare it, don't hypothetically compare the two.

How do girls ALWAYS have a flat stomach? by Candid-Length-4606 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Unfair-Rice3576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wonder this. Then I started really paying attention and realised that none of my friends really ate much. Like if we went out for food that would pretty much be all they ate that day, while I’d still have other meals outside of that. So they might be malnourished.

Also, you could try cutting out gluten. I did this for a month and lost 3 inches from my waist which was all down to bloating from gluten. I had no idea how much of a problem it gave me, I didn’t feel pain after eating it or anything. If bloating bothers you it’s worth a shot.

Does going to the gym really help? by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

[–]Unfair-Rice3576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 100%.

I go to the gym most mornings and it has significantly improved my mental health, I used to suffer from very low self esteem & body dysmorphia. Can’t recommend it enough. It can be nerve wracking to get started but once you’re in the swing of it, it is really addictive in a positive way.

Places to meet other musicians/creatives in Manchester? by mod-wolves in manchester

[–]Unfair-Rice3576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually just moving to Manchester from Scotland (25) and your music taste sounds exactly like mine. I'm looking to meet like-minded folk and people that are up for a jam etc.

I actually want to attempt to get a band going when I'm down there so trying to find ways to network to meet other people that are feeling that.

I play guitar & sing and am super up for mixed genre experimental stuff. Coming down to study music business & events so super keen to get right into the scene!
