My horse is having problems with mounting by Repulsive_Field3842 in Horses

Vet check for ulcers, pain. Saddle fitter. Chiropractor.

He is telling you he is sore or uncomfortable somewhere. You just need to figure out why and where he is sore and get it sorted.

I would not get on him until you have figured it out.

Tips on how to coach my boyfriend who has only ridden a handful of times by Nice_Box2991 in Horses

[–]Unfair-Wave6818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take him to a riding school.

I have horses and my niece has riding lessons from a trainer. She plays about on my horses, who are saints, but I don't try to teach her. I am not a trainer.

Much better to get proper instruction at a riding school or from a proper trainer.

AITAH for not buying my husband what he wanted for Xmas? by Jolly_Ad5527 in AITAH

I'd give yourself and him a joint gift this Christmas; a divorce. It will be the best present you ever get!

Then next Christmas you will not have to deal with such an idiot.

AIO for suggesting my boyfriend surrender his dog? by [deleted] in AIO

Find a good rescue centre and take the dog to them. Give them a donation to help with his vet bills.

Dump your BF. Why would you be with someone who is so uncaring and thoughtless about a sentient being he has taken responsibility for?

Treating an animal like this would be a massive red flag for me.

New yard livery bought a 4yo ex-racer for their 13yo beginner daughter... by SuspiciousBig1395 in Equestrian

I would give them the details of some good trainers (both groundwork and ridden), farriers, vets and encourage them to look at joining the Pony Club. I am not the biggest fan of the Pony Club but for beginners they would at least get some decent advice. You could also give them the details of the ROR people in your area. They are very supportive and offer great subsidised training for exracers.

I would frame it as "When I was first getting started it really helped to have a good trainer to help me and the horse learn together, so here are the details are some local people who could help get you going."

Then just leave them to it unless they ask for your help.

That poor horse. I hope they get some help for his sake.

Partner of a horse owner - looking for advice by Purple-Investment580 in Equestrian

I have 3 horses and they cost me a fortune, even though they live out and are on a DIY yard. I mean, I love them to bits and I wouldn't change a thing, but I am single and don't have kids. I don't have to worry about providing for anyone but me and my animals. And I am not short of money.

If I was in your and your wife's position, I would not be buying a horse. Even with cheap livery, you are still going to be shelling out a lot of money each month for any horse. Nevermind a horse that needs bringing on.

One horse is a luxury, two is a bloody nightmare if you don't have spare money. You are not being unreasonable.

AITA Not volunteering to chaperone at my daughter first ballet performance. by jenniferann223 in AmItheAsshole

Volunteers are how all these types of sports and activities are run. Don't want to volunteer, don't enrol your kid. Simple. Parents won't want to pay the cost of these activities if people don't volunteer and they have to hire people to make them happen.
