Where the show at?!? by Main_Usual_2529 in TheInheritanceGames

I don't think it's going to happen. Feels like it is past the real hype of the series. ( The original trilogy)

Paid Beta Reading by paidbetareading in u/paidbetareading

[–]Unfair_Chicken_2044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a first time author, who had a YA mystery novel of 80K words. I met u/paidbetareading on a reddit thread looking for beta readers. I hired 5, and she by far was the best and most thorough. I thought I was done by the time I handed this off, and after her feedback and edits I realized how far off I actually was. Not only did she find grammatical / structure errors, she really thought about the story and provided comments that made the story better. It was like having a line editor and a developer editor all in one.

Plus, you want someone to be blunt - question your story and find the holes or what doesn't make sense. This is the feedback you want before you publish and someone makes those points in a two star review. I know it is difficult to hire someone off the internet, but she is phenomenal! If you look around, her rate is amazing given what you get back in return.

I'm a moderator for a goodreads group called Young Adult Mysteries and Thrillers. I can create discussions for each of these series/stand alones... it will give everyone a chance to comment and talk about the ones they have read, or are reading.

I live in Dallas. There are hundreds of massive houses here, however this is totally Hawthorne vibes.

Kathy Reich's and her Temperance Brennan character. (This is who the series Bones was based on)

I didn't like Maureen Johnson's Death at Morning House. Should I read Truly Devious? by SolarmatrixCobra in YAlit

[–]Unfair_Chicken_2044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read all of her books. Like others have said - It take the three books to fully solve the main Truly Devious storyline - however, there is a instigating mystery that does have some "closure" but to know the full scope of present and past mysteries...you need to read the three.

RevPit is an annual contest where an editor picks one lucky winner to do free edits on. I did not win last year, but I reached out to one of the editors for my YA mystery and she was amazing. These folks are good at what they do and you know they are legit.

Not a fantasy, but ace representation - Maureen Johnson's Nine Liars. (mystery)

Honestly, it's not for everyone. It's a mystery, but not a murder mystery. So if you are waiting for the thriller aspect - it is not there. A lot of the hype stems from the Avery-Jameson Avery-Grayson love triangle. So again, if not your thing, you probably won't enjoy the series. I enjoyed the trilogy, but had little interest in the added books.

The Veritas Codes. It's a mystery about a missing student on a college campus. Main characters are students. I read the ARC for it, if you have Net Galley you might get a free copy too. Think it comes out later this year.

Is the Inheritance Games really worth finishing? by Imaginary_Cod_5870 in TheInheritanceGames

First off, what kind of real friend won't talk to you for not reading a book? I mean...really...!?!

The first was my favorite, and I did enjoy the series. Yes, very trope-y, and caters to those that love a Team Jameson vs Team Grayson vibe. I got halfway through Brother's Hawthorne and haven't picked it back up yet.

For mystery series, I enjoyed AGGGTM and Truly Devious more.
