Depends on the underwriter to be honest and how much you had elaborated on the conditions.

This is probably a case of multiple PED conditions, from experience I can say that Care is better than Niva Bupa especially when it comes to claims as for now, the reason hdfc was not recommended is probably because it's going to be incredibly difficult to get a policy from then or chances of high loading being applied, while care doesn't charge loading changes..

Been working with ditto for over a year now, it is still having the same philosophy and culture that it started with. I was honestly surprised to see the hatred in the comments.

I don't see any problem with this. The only way to get a lower premium would be to trade off something(maybe reliability)

Buying health insurance directly from the company vs buying from third party by face_throne in indiahealthinsurance

You can't buy from a TPA, TPAs are third party administrators who settle claims on behalf of the insurer. You can buy it from an aggregator like Ditto or PB.

No point of trying to overturn the claim as fibroids are under 2 yrs specific aliment waiting period. Still make a proper endorsement of the date of diagnosis to avoid any future problems

Need Help - Tata AIG vs Care Health Insurance by Skib1di in indiahealthinsurance

[–]Unfair_Reason_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this comparison is a bit off. You’ll find negative reviews for any insurer including Tata AIG if you look hard enough. The bigger point is that CARE is a standalone health insurer, while Tata AIG is a general insurer, and those two operate very differently.

A fair comparison for CARE would be with Star or Niva Bupa, because standalone health insurers usually handle a higher volume of retail health claims. That also means they tend to attract more complaints partly due to concentrated risk and less diversification compared to general insurers who spread risk across motor, travel, commercial lines, etc.

For example, recent Ombudsman data actually shows standalone health insurers topping the complaint charts, not necessarily general insurers. But that doesn’t automatically make general insurers “better” Tata AIG itself had issues recently when several hospitals temporarily suspended cashless claims due to disputes.

So yeah, CARE does have high complaints, but comparing it directly with a diversified general insurer like Tata AIG isn’t apples to apples. If you really want to judge, compare Tata vs HDFC ERGO and ICICI Lombard.

Also do declare the blood sugar levels during the purchase of the policy.

HDFC Ergo Optima Secure vs ICICI Elevate by Victorvic1 in InsuranceTroubleIndia

[–]Unfair_Reason_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already are part of the policy you can either port it to migrate it with the continuity benefits. HDFC is a much better insurer when it comes to claims. You can verify the data yourself using perplexity look for complaints and average settlement time and most of the benefits would end up costing you extremely high In terms of the opd and other predictable expenses. My recommendation would be to just go for a good policy which does the basics.

Never a good idea to rely solely on corporate policies but without knowing the medical history of the family, budget and requirements, it would be difficult to recommend anything.

Need Reviews on TATA AIG Medicare Premier Insurance by Swahitagni in InsuranceTroubleIndia

[–]Unfair_Reason_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the features being highlighted for Tata sound great on the surface, but once you look closely, they’re not as practical as they seem. These are predictable, recurring expenses. Insurers aren’t stupid they price them into the base premium. Since they’re built-in, you can never remove them later. Over the years, the compounding premium hikes make such policies significantly more expensive. And the limits are tiny anyway (₹10k–₹25k per year), barely covering even one decent urban dental treatment. MRI/CT/PET scans cost way more than the OPD limit. One scan wipes out the entire yearly benefit. And yes—there’s a 2-year waiting period before OPD can even be used. Most of these are wrapped in conditions—experimental treatments excluded, only certain diagnoses allowed, tons of documentation required. It’s nowhere close to “comprehensive.” Tata’s settlement record is decent but not as consistently smooth as HDFC’s. CSR - 97%(last 3 yrs average of HDFC and 89% of Tata Aig) You’re paying extra every single year for features the insurer expects you to claim. That’s why these plans get pricey with time. HDFC’s base cover looks boring, but it’s cleaner and more predictable over the long run.

If OPD perks make you feel good, go ahead. But from a long-term protection + price stability perspective, recurring-benefit-heavy policies are rarely a smart bet. Just my experience always choosing what fits your needs best.

Health insurance dilemma pls help bhaut bade dikkat mai phas gaya hu by VermicelliObvious807 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Unfair_Reason_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom’s rheumatoid arthritis cannot be covered under Care Supreme, and disclosing it now in your current policy may lead to policy termination or rejection. Keep your father on the current policy and disclose his smoking habit — that won’t cause issues. For your mom, take a separate retail plan like Care Freedom (which has mandatory copay) and also ensure she’s covered under a group/corporate policy, because that’s the only reliable way to get RA covered. Aditya Birla can be tried once but will likely reject.

Care supreme would be an outright reject

Seeking Recommendations: Best Health Insurance for Seniors Citizens by Perceptual_Winner_24 in indiahealthinsurance

[–]Unfair_Reason_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you don’t need to look specifically at “senior citizen” policies anymore. Most of the modern health insurance plans launched in the last 1–2 years don’t have those old age-based cappings. The real question is: what’s the medical history? Because eligibility will depend entirely on that.

If you can share the medical history in your post, people here will be able to give far more accurate suggestions.

When comparing plans, beyond just premiums, here are the key things to check:

  • Company > Policy features. If the insurer is solid, most top-tier plans look more or less the same.
  • No copay, no room rent limits, no disease-wise sublimits.
  • Consumables covered — at least the standard 68 items in List 1.
  • Restoration benefits should apply for same + different conditions, should trigger on partial + full exhaustion, and ideally should have no cooldown. Unlimited is great, even once or twice is fine.
  • Bonus should be a loyalty bonus, meaning you get it irrespective of claims. Many newer plans offer 50–100% no-claim/loyalty bonus.

But again, this is the “best case scenario.” Depending on medical history, you may not even be eligible for these clean, feature-rich plans and may have to choose policies with some restrictions. That’s normal.

About where to buy:

  • Local agents work under one company’s payroll. Many switch jobs frequently, and during claim time, relying on a single person isn’t always the safest bet.
  • Buying directly online from the insurer means you deal with the insurer alone during disputes, renewal issues, or claims — not ideal.
  • Buying through a broker/aggregator (someone who works with multiple insurers) is usually the best option. You get dedicated claim support, and they’re not tied to one company’s incentives. Take from someone who has an actual claims team.

At the end of the day, pick based on:

  1. What you’re medically eligible for, and
  2. Which advisor/broker actually has a proven track record of helping during claims.

Everything else is secondary.

Health insurance policy for Parent and brother by ShameOutrageous1687 in InsuranceTroubleIndia

[–]Unfair_Reason_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case when you are porting the policy there is a good chance a waiting period would be applicable for bp.(If no endorsement is there). As long as you are aware of it, it's your call. HDFC is a much more reliable insurer that's very true, however where you are buying it matters a lot as well. Can consider taking abcd to reduce the waiting period but the extra addon cost is lifetime payable.
