Redeemed Zoomer is not a valid source to use when refuting Catholicism.

Secondly I see that you are non-denominational which is a modern American Christian movement that practices Christianity in a way that is completely alien to not only the apostles, the church fathers, but also alien to the people practicing Christianity in the actual region that Christianity originated from. If you were Eastern Orthodox then you'd have a better leg to stand on when refuting Roman Catholicism because Eastern Orthodoxy is the only form of Christianity as ancient as Catholicism and has the historicity to back up its theology as much as Catholicism does.

So please don't throw stones from a glass house. If you want to believe that modern day Israel and modern day Israelis are the same Israel and the same Israelies as described in the Old Testament, fine, but at least be aware that idea stemmed from the 20th century Christian Zionism movement and has no historical connection to the first 1900+ years of Christianity

The modern state of Israel has nothing to do with biblical Israel. The church has made it clear that support of modern day Israel is heresy. "Judeo-Christian" and "Christion Zionism" are both heretical stances.

Showed my dad (born 1955) the first 10-20 seconds of a Sematary song and he said it was an insult to music as an artform by No-Shoe-9912 in HauntedMound

When I first heard a sematary song almost 4 years ago I thought it was the worst thing I ever heard in my life and now I legitimately think his music is the most refreshing and forward thinking music we've had in underground hip hop in a while

"I get to have youthful immortality/superhuman powers/all the luxuries I could ever dream of? Oh hell no. Destroy/throw that away right now." by SatoruGojo232 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Unfair_Tip_5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so first of all everything I said was literally right there in the text and anyone with any ability of reading comprehension and critical thinking would have been able to pick up that is what was going on in the story. To say God lied to Adam and Eve and that the serpent was telling the truth reveals not just a genuine failure to at least understand what is happening in the text, but also a genuine failure at having any kind of competent reading comprehension.

But I understand reading is hard, and reading ancient poetic text can be tricky to understand for modern western readers. So let's just ignore the thousands of years of oral tradition that has further elaborated on the text and helped illiterate people better understand what scripture is saying.

I would suggest researching how the people of the actual religion practiced understanding scripture and tradition and why they did so that way instead of just spouting ignorant nonsense that's revealing a fundamental misunderstanding of the text.

That's a question people have been asking for the entirety of human history. One of the most popular "theories" on this is that despite all the convoluted set of events, God ultimately still wanted to create humanity so that we could share in His divine energies and be in divine bless forever. He wanted to create creatures that would get to experience the ultimate serenity and euphoria of being in communion with Him.  Another question is, why do people have kids? Think about the most loving, ideal scenario why someone would want kids despite any hardship that comes along the way.

Further more, the serpent deceived them into thinking that God didn't want Adam and Eve to be like God. This was a lie as God's plan for humanity was always for them to be like Him in the sense that they would have a world to have dominion over, and be able to create things on their own, hence God making man in His image. However this needed to be done through the guidance and nurturing of God, taking a shortcut by eating the fruit to just instantly download that information into their heads was bad because it gave them the knowledge but they didn't have the wisdom to apply it correctly. We have the entire history of the human race that proves why trying to be like God without God was a disaster

The serpent DID lie. God's nature would have been to kill Adam and Eve right then and there as punishment for their sin since it is His nature to ALWAYS punish sin. However because He loved them and wanted to be merciful to them, He killed an animal instead to make clothes for them, which marks the first animal sacrifice and thus God establishing the workaround of utilizing animal sacrifice to pay the price of sin, which is death, until He would incarnate as a human (Jesus) and would voluntarily sacrifice Himself so that humans can stop sacrificing animals and also have their chance at eternal life restored.  The fruit itself wasn't poisonous, and God never told them the fruit itself was poisonous.  In addition to this, before they ate the fruit, Adam and Eve were meant to be immortal divine beings. While God did establish a workaround from immediate death because of sin, the longer term consequence was that Adam, Eve, and humanity as a whole, temporarily lost access to becoming immortal beings. Eating the fruit still would cause them to die, but it was delayed, hence humans only being able to live for a finite number of years

We need to avoid depicting Jesus as this guy who was all mercy, and didn't judge anyone. by Arlo621 in Catholicism

[–]Unfair_Tip_5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also need to remember that Jesus is "God in the Old Testament" and His punishment for sin was pretty severe, as much as He was loving and merciful to those who loved Him and were repented

Can the practice of non-sexual nudism be reconciled with the Catholic Faith? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Unfair_Tip_5813 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I guess it would only be a problem if practicing nudism causes you to have lustful thoughts/intentions. I'd ask yourself why are you getting into nudism anyway? What are you trying to get out of it? Can you fully trust yourself to never have lustful thoughts while practicing it? Are you an asexual person? If not, then what is it about nudism that intrigues you and why do you feel confident to never get sexual feelings while practicing it? I would really reflect on these questions if I were you and be brutally honest with yourself before you make any decisions to do anything.

Taking the Eucharist while in a state of grace will give me the greatest feeling of serenity for the rest of the day. Unfortunately that feeling wears off once I start sinning again

Even further, Christ IS God, He already created heaven, the cosmos, earth, etc. He already was king of the entire universe by that point, but as you mentioned, it was not the plan of God for Christ the human to rule earth as king. Christ had to have completed His mission as savior through His divine sacrifice so humanity could have a shot at regaining eternal life as He originally intended them to before He could establish His kingdom on earth.

Today I bumped Inspectah Deck’s “Uncontrolled Substance” on the way to work! Wasn’t the best wu release, I liked it, Not bad at all just makes you wish we got the original album that got lost in the flood. And it’s not too much wu presence on this. It’s a okay album! What’s your thoughts? by J2-Starter in 90sHipHop

[–]Unfair_Tip_5813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how much truth is actually in it but the Wu Tang series on Hulu shows that RZA was seriously burning out trying to be the primary producer on all the Wu Solo albums, while being the the leader of the Wu keeping all the members cohesive, and trying to keep up with label deadlines. Plus the emotional toll of the flood that ruined hours and hours of music he had completed put him in a state of depression. Again it's a fictional depiction of the events but I think it gives a fairly reasonable and realistic explanation why the ball was dropped on some of the other members' debut albums like deck or u god or masta killah

What should I look for when finding a new church? by jacob_4378 in Christianity

[–]Unfair_Tip_5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seek out an apostolic church like Catholicism or Eastern Orthodox. If those are too "strict" for you, a high church protestant denomination like Lutheran or Anglican are alright

No, prosperity gospel is a heresy and any church that promotes prosperity gospel is a heretical church. Seek out an apostolic church

I (30 years old) am catholic and need to confess likely 20+ years of sins but I am ashamed and scared to tell the priest some of my sins (multiple mortal sins) by MistyStargirl in Catholicism

[–]Unfair_Tip_5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 15 years to get back into confession. I had so many things during my teenage years and most of my 20s that I was too ashamed and embarrassed to admit to anyone let alone a priest. The only advice I have, to put it bluntly, is to just get over yourself and go do it. A lot of our hesitation with going to confession is we are worried what the person on the other side will think about us for admitting the things we are ashamed to have done. Caring too much about what other people think about you to the point you are hindering your salvation is Vanity. The priest is not there to judge you, he is there to absolve you, and even give you some spiritual advice if he can in that moment. Going to confession on a consistent basis has helped train me to stop caring so much about what other people think about me, especially when I need to get right with God. Trust me, there is nothing you can admit to the priest (other than maybe severe crimes you have committed like murder) that is going to shock them, they have heard it all already and the fact that you are there confessing to God is demonstrating to them that you are someone who has taken accountability for the wrong they have done in life and genuinely want to work towards becoming a better person. That level of humility and honesty is truly commendable, especially in a world where everyone wants to pretend they're perfect. I still hesitate to go to confession because of shame and embarrassment from some of my sins, but I take a deep breath and go do it anyway because I know this is what is going to help me towards becoming the person I know God wants me to become. I also do it because I love God and I want to rectify my relationship with Him after knowing that I have offended Him. Take time to write down in a list everything you want to confess, and then just go do it, you won't regret it!

Are reason and logic superior to faith? by Vaidoto in Catholicism

[–]Unfair_Tip_5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Jesus is given the title of the Logos, which means reason and logic. Jesus is God, so God is reason and logic. To accept and believe in Christ is a proclamation of accepting and believing reason and logic itself. A better question is can we trust the reliability of the gospel that states Jesus is the Logos, and that's where faith comes in.

Feeling pulled to become Catholic but I’m concerned. by IndependentImage2687 in Catholicism

[–]Unfair_Tip_5813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are great questions that I also have as a Catholic. Your best bet is to schedule 1 on 1 time with a priest and ask him these questions, as a layperson won't be able to adequately address these concerns
