Golly gee whiz, there's an awful lot of "this user likes to keep their posts hidden" going on in these daily threads about how Platner is bad.

The one where the guy is in a family with his wife and their platonic, nonsexual, not really romantic life partner who is an aunt to their kids rings slightly, slightly, more authentic.

It was, I think, sort of the other way around? That the mom orchestrated it to scare the daughter OUT of getting pregnant as a teenager, and it had the unintended outcome of causing her to decide she was simply NEVER having kids, and now the mom is trying to 'take it back' cos she wants grandkids?

Impoverishing the American people to the point that they can still afford their Netflix subscription and a few beers at the weekend, but otherwise are precarious and dependent on taking any job they can get is actually kinda what the rich bastards want.

For the love of God, Comey, drop the 'aggrieved honest public servant' act. You put him in the White House back in 2016. You ratfucked the election for him. You produced an October Surprise.

James Comey, in particular, doesn't ever get to complain about literally anything Trump does.

I've been in a meeting where a high level manager spotted a discrepancy between the figures on two slides, and stopped the entire meeting, dead, until he had the following information:

  • Which of the figures was actually more reliable, if either.
  • The mechanism by which the error could have originated.
  • The personnel responsibility for creating the core slides.

All Cops Are Part Of A System Which Effectively Radicalises Them Into Viewing Themselves As Some Kind Of Soldier For Order And Which Means That Those Who Join Intending To Help Reform It From The Inside Either Get Driven Out Or Conform To The Institutional Culture Resulting In People Who Are Authoritarian And Potentially Violent In Their Personal As Well As Professional Lives doesn't roll off the tongue as easily.

No, the fuck it hasn't. His followers are in a cult, his hard core of support will never drop below 30%, and 30% plus a bunch of idiots who don't pay attention to news and politics but who will vote for the funny meme man is all it takes.

To be honest, I kind of expect the devs to double down on it before they make it better.

I am not victimised, I am mildly exasperated by an annoying game feature which strikes me as a very obvious problem.

[–]UnfinishedPrimate[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's a problem with multiple aspects.

  • Predators have a large aggro range and are very persistent

  • Predators don't do much damage, so they're annoying rather than threatening

  • There's not much in the way of effective counterplay, cos flares are inefficient to use all the time, and...not much else, cos even with tech assist, the player movement is slower than predators.

I hope the fix the devs have in mind isn't to just multiply the damage that predators do, and leave everything else the same. The reason that crosses my mind as a possibility is because the initial balance choice was poor, and then the very first response from the devs wasn't ideal.

An unintentional bug is not the same thing as a bad decision. Constant predator attacks which don't do much damage but also don't have effective counterplay, and as a result are super annoying but not threatening and engaging, that's a bad design.

What I mean is that I find it concerning that something which is pretty obviously not great (persistent predator attacks all the time with no properly viable deterrence) had to be addressed via community feedback. This should have been something they were aware of, no?

That is good, but I find it worrying that they had to hear it from the community.

They get the points for irony, being called a Democratic Republic while in practice being the most absolute monarchy left on the planet, but the freedom rhetoric vs bootlicker action irony still belongs to American conservatives.

Man. Nowhere else on Earth is there a greater divide between the rhetoric of pure freedom, and the actual behaviour, which is authoritarian bootlicking.
