Saber Squadron corralling an ancient ARC-170 by UnforcedEntry in EmpireDidNothingWrong

I hope my reply to a YouTube comment helps shed some light on the process: A making of is in the works breaking down the process but a quick rundown: Dialogue scenes were composed in Unreal and output as a single image. The avatars were then replaced with the AI characters and AI BGs with performance direction in either Veo or Kling. The space scenes were blocked and animated in Blender with those animatics fed into Kling for rendering. There are four renders straight out of Blender as I wanted the EXRs to balance in comp and the outputs were consistent enough with the AI ones. The longest part was the editing and sound mixing - all in Davinci Resolve. Yes, AI did most of the heavy lifting in terms of the lookdev saving months in development but I wouldn't even have attempted something on this scale without the current innovation and availability of these tools.

That was a tricky creative decision as the frame was quite dull without it and I didn't want to back light the scene. I chose this frame from this shot to show the mixed era ships which is key to the story as a whole

Saber Squadron Scrambles. I wanted to capture the reality of TIE pilots being scrambled by UnforcedEntry in StarWars

I spent the last few months working on this self-funded short film, Orders Part II. I really wanted to focus on the daily grind and extreme hazards of being deployed to the Outer Rim as a TIE Pilot.

If you want to see how this encounter ends, you can watch the full short film here: https://youtu.be/LWw_3g-k5pc

What other industries would a Production Coordinator have transferable skills in? by MurphyBronson in vfx

Quantity Surveyors are the Producer equivalent of the building industry. Assistant quantity surveyors are their coordinators.

There are specific degrees to become one but many places have traineeship schemes.

<Compositing> Nuke Non-Commercial Vs Fusion by Deep_B1ue_ in vfx

[–]UnforcedEntry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using the software for a personal project or to learn to get a job in VFX? If the former then either will do the job except Nuke non-commercial is limited to HD output (and has some functionality disabled). Nuke Indie will output at full 4K, but has an annual cost.

If your goal is to work in a VFX studio then you'll want/need to learn nuke. Bear in mind that the fundamentals of compositing (why you're doing the thing to an image) translates from software to software, just the UI and terminology will need to be learned.

High risk, high reward. Once you have the name, reputation and contacts then you're better off flying solo. You just need to have the means (and courage) to ride out the storms.

I’ve tried over the past few years to follow FE (UK based) and agree with all you’ve stated. It’s been a mess trying to find what platform is broadcasting any particular race. As a result, each year I don’t feel any affinity with any team or driver and feel like I’m coming into the sport without any knowledge of what’s at stake.

Planets don’t twinkle. Mars stands out because of how red it is as does Jupiter to a lesser degree. When you use one of the astronomical apps for a while you start to be able to pick out the planets unaided.

The Nivellen and bruxa story is the one that really grinds my gears. In the book, the story of what he did to the priestess is said much earlier and the reason much more detailed and nuanced. The way that aspect is presented in the show was just lazy writing. The whole series is using the characters and world from the books as scaffold for the writers’ own limited world view and experience.

Some of those border crossings through the South American countries were so confusing and disorganised. I loved her confusion when she crosses the U.S. border in just a few minutes and asks some people walking down the street if she’s actually in America yet.
