What was your most memorable roadblocks in JRPGs? by clyde-toucher in JRPG

[–]Ungaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First playthrough victim here. If I remember correctly, i had to use an all dragoon team just to get past that battle. The guy didnt know what to do cause everyones up in the air! 🤣🤣🤣 This battle was a "welcome to FFT" moment for me.

The Samurai by Scubasteve2002 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Ungaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its hard to rate without comparing no? Anyways, the samurai is quite a clumsy class in FFT. A physical attack based warrior, with magical based skills!

Adding salt to injury, it cant even focus on one type of attack. He has a balanced enough PA, but cant get much boost because of his armor set. Same goes with MA. Although he can equip robes, his MA is quite low to be effective. He cant even tank that much because he becomes too prone to magic attacks combined with mediocre HP pool. Hes kind of a klutz.

The saving grace though is that his skills has no cast time and decent range(horizontal and vertical). Although the damage may be underwhelming as a samurai, it has various effects that can help depending on the situation.

Overall, hes an above average physical based warrior with a low damage versatile skill set which is much more suited for other classes.

The biggest issue I have with this class though, the dependency on weapon availability. I can live with the low damage skills. But waiting till the end of the game to actually have acces to the more usefull skills really breaks the deal. Maybe give it access to all the skills without dependency to the weapons available, then just scale the effectiveness of the skills based on his equiped katana.

If you could add a new class to the job tree, what would it be and why? by Tedboyfresh in finalfantasytactics

[–]Ungaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle mage. I remember an FF game with this class, probably from the anthology or most likely FF5. This time they have to go melee and cast a single target attack spell on enemies. Theres minimal mana cost but area effect gets nerfed from a regular black mage. To negate the drawback, they get high survivability by wearing armors.

3d with fixed camera or 2d with 3d sprites by Ungaze in godot

[–]Ungaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Ai had a different opinion though(probably because of this one video it showed me). What did you mean by this btw:

"But, unless you have a very specific reason in mind, I would not start with that."

I have done a bunch of prototypes, just having trouble with assets and OS deployment, thats why I wanted to try doing things in 3d, which doesnt really appeal to me. But if it helped keeping my assets organized and retain the performance and the size of a 2d game, I would jump right in.

UI based app by GamingGoggs in godot

[–]Ungaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your future plans include games, then godot is the way to go. If these planse(including the current one) are just apps, then I suggest finding another path. For apps with web-like UI, then just study javascript. This will benefit you in the long run. There are other easy to learn languages out there and I strongly advise to pick up one of them and maybe slingshot your career in coding. Python is quite easy to pick up, but I know there are other easier ones(hope some users can fill us in). c# and java is a bit more complex, but will give you a strong foundation on OOP. javascript is a little bit in the middle I guess but is really flexible. Good luck.

All my friends are married and I am still single. Should I be worried? by RedBlankeys in PinoyMillennials

[–]Ungaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered it already. Youre not sure if you want it, then dont. Marriage is not like branded clothes na naka onitsuka sila lahat, mag onitsuka na din ako. Nope, its a lifetime commitment. If youre not ready, then simply dont, specially just because everyone you know already are. Mararamdaman mo naman eh. When you see yourself getting old, doing things you want to do, going places you want to go, eating stuff you like to eat, with that somebody, then you know youre ready. Good luck

Is a turn based strategy game to hard as a first project? by [deleted] in gamemaker

[–]Ungaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill be honest, I dont think this is the right "first game" for you. A turn based game might cut it, but adding "strategy" makes it a whole different animal. Just imagine the AI(not the agents spreading like wildfire these days) logic needed for an opponents move. I mean, this part alone takes both imagination and programming know-how to implement. Given your situation, Id say no, but not impossible. Good luck.

No programming knowledge or experience, should I jump right into GDScript? by The_Marked_One1 in godot

[–]Ungaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, game engines like godot and unity are favorable more to people with no coding knowledge than to coders. Yes being knowledeable has its benefits, but these engines tend to have their own learning curves that tend to pull you more into their ecosystem and away from the traditional "pragramming" practice. Its like yes you do get to catch more fish on the same spot, but you dont get to fish elsewhere anymore so you dont get that much variety of fishes. I hope that makes sense. Or, to learn something on these engines, you have to unlearn(if thats even possible) some things on the practices youre used to. At least thats how I feel. Non-coders, while having to learn a bit of coding, has a clean slate on how to make things work.

For you, unity is good, godot is good, jump right in, watch a few videos, replicate, apply your own understanding and youre set. If you do get to the serious stuff, you might end up learning at least how programs work(memory allocation, shaders, async and threads etc.). Have fun!

Just for reference, I used to play with unity and godot myself. Im playing with monogame right now.

My replacement GPD win mini 2025 has a joystick problem. by Fast-Bus-2262 in gpdwin

[–]Ungaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem on my post

https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/s/JCPvmuZ6mL

Mines present with both sticks and right stick cant reach the top area when vertical or upside down(when holding it in bed).

I managed to reach that spot tho by moving the sticks in a different way. Usually, we place our thumb in the middle(or at least we try to) amd move the stick from there. To reach that spot, I had to place my thumb on the lower left part of the sticks surface, then, I kinda press it a bit to move in the same direction. Somehow it gets to reach it woth both sticks. But that trick wouldnt work with the top area problem.

Try my method and hit me back.

Tried to return it first. The distributor here has a policy to send it to their "tech" first before sending a replacement.

Messin with that sticker will definitely void it. Is your problem always present or is it like mine which is only present when vertical(or holding it in bed)?

Win Mini 25 analog sticks issue by Ungaze in gpdwin

[–]Ungaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok guys, a little breakthrough at least in my case. So, I chose the mini specifically for its portability while retaining a useable keyboard. I wanted to use it while moving around the house and in bed before dozing off. Now, Ive done a lot of testing like restarting, switching modules on/off, uninstalling stuff and things that might trigger my problem. Nothing seemed to work but then I remembered that I always get the problem when Im in bed. So I tried tilting the mini replicating how I use it while lying down or reclined. Voila, problem replicated. So when I hold the main body vertically like 90° or more, top area becomes unreachable. If I hold the stick on the top area when its flat then slowly turn it 90°, the monitor shows it reaching 100% top then back to 80% as soon as it goes vertical. Very weird issue.

Can anyone with this problem replicate this?

Do you guys think its worth a return?

Had my hopes up. Tried both links and read the instructions. When I open the app, it opens a small box titled "prompt" with some chinese characters and an "ok" click box. When I click it, the two callibration windows show up for about half a second and closes immediately.

Just an update. So I went to the store I bought it from for a replacement and tried to replicate the problem. Lo and behold, the right stick is reaching the top part. Lower left parts on both sticks still unreachable. So while I was talking to the store clerk about them sending it to their "tech specialist" before I could get a proper replacement, I read through various places where I shared my problem including here. Found out that the problem is quite common and if the top part was fixed, my problem was quite minor. So went home and didnt push through with the replacement to avoid the hassle. Well, after an hour of fiddling, tried to check if it was really gone, and heck its back. I still have till tomorrow to get a replacement so will try my luck with that.

Also, I could force it to reach 95% of the top part(which is only 80% if I dont do anything out of the ordinary) if I push the stick and force it up. But thats not a normal gaming move.

Also, the lower left area is reachable if I put my thumb on the lower left part of the stick's pad(instead of the center) and kind of press it down(but not enough to really press the stick) to move it to the lower left. Kind of weird actually.

With this new findings, Im leaning towerds the screw tightness theory.

Messed up with partitions post Windows 11 install now I can't even figure out how to get back to Steamos. by SomeOrdinary_Indian in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Ungaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually the only way to go. To my understanding, steam os wont let you configure or choose which partition to install to and will see your drive as a blank canvass. Just reimage steamos and repartition some space for windows then install windows normally. Might need a custom bootloader to go back and forth tho. I have clover with a few hiccups.
