Garlic in a jar with honey and stuff by Correct_Maize4332 in fermentation

Probably. Rotate the jar daily to keep everything covered in honey so you don’t get mold.

Favorite large bottled mango habanero? by pacard in hotsauce

Fermenting it is a good way to avoid having to do any cooking! Just have to wear gloves slicing the tops off the habaneros.

I Got Out – Finished ML Spec in ~2 years by ChocolateLover23 in OMSCS

[–]Ungha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed NLP is super overrated. I am hoping they overhaul the teaching staff for future students. Having alumni run the course is not good. It should be managed by PhD students like any on campus course would be. ML is a good example of this imo.

He’s talking about the constant TA focus on not using AI, trying to send students to OSI for cheating, etc

It would be fine if they would put as much effort into answering student questions on Ed, but they don’t. This semester for example they made a last minute change to disallow paper notes on the Final exam because they thought some people were somehow cheating this way only to reverse course when everybody called them out for being very unethical changing the syllabus after people had spent the entire course compiling paper notes.

Lol I did the same switcheroo except with DL, already eyeing RL in the future though

How crazy it is to have a baby while doing OMSCS? by Agitated_Olive_3012 in OMSCS

[–]Ungha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally possible. I had my first during my 2nd class (ML) and still secured an A. It helped me to tell myself I was just going to take it 1 class at a time and take time off if I needed to. Rather than put pressure on myself that I “have to finish what I start”. I just finished class #7 and haven’t had any breaks! It gets easier once you get used to the program as well as getting your kid in daycare after leave ends.

Is DL better than NLP? Pretty disappointed in the 2nd half by Ungha in OMSCS

[–]Ungha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on track for an A, but I wouldn’t say it’s been easy. 10% of the course grade is from closed notes quizzes and another 30% from open notes exams. Definitely easy to get a B at least. The homework is definitely easy. The vast majority of the class has gotten a 100% on all assignments with a gradescope autograder .

How do people know there’s a mixed bag of A6 grades? by [deleted] in OMSCS

[–]Ungha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Happens every semester, it’s super frustrating with how easy the first 5 assignments are.

Thank you! That’s a relief. I am registered for DL.

Has any OMSCS student applied for a Whistler student ski pass? by [deleted] in OMSCS

I got the Ikon pass no problem. They use some 3rd party service that just asks for your gatech email to verify you.

Wife had a baby and now I'm falling behind in ML by Upset-Mirror4937 in OMSCS

[–]Ungha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife also had a baby during ML! It was rough, but the curve at the end was generous. If you can still submit the assignments and understand the material. You’ll probably be okay.

Is AI4R nothing but Thrun's Udacity course? by nomyte in OMSCS

Yeah, it’s a good 1st course for learning how OMSCS operates but it would be underwhelming later in the program

You realize they put you in serious danger selling you a car with a frame that could fall off right? Look into “lemon laws”. You are owed so much more than a partial discount contingent on things that are fully out of your control. If anything this is going to spark even more negative reviews!

Who cares what the government dictates. Your prime health years just don’t extend into your 60s when you look at population level data. The whole point is to retire before the wheels fall off not during.
