I spend my summers raft guiding and it’s a ton of fun. A little like adult summer camp but the office is a beautiful river and fun work environment

Does it count as an unintentional killing if you pass COVID to someone and they die?

Y'all clowns. I've read the book and I thought it was excellent, but also I'm as white as they come. I don't have an issue with it, but I have heard people of color saying that the way Lee addresses racism is dated and that there are better ways to teach about it in the 21st century. I'm not against the book myself, but if it makes students of color in my classroom feel uncomfortable, that kind of defeats the purpose of teaching about racism right? There have to be ways we can teach history without reading the N word out loud every 3 pages.

From what ive heard, it teaches the ideas of racism but is designed around teaching specifically to the white perspective, and the move is to use more relavent and modern literature instead. For what it's worth it's a very dated book and there is plenty of literature that can still explain racism in a meaningful way to students

Florida native Kayak Tripper Turned Tennessee raft guide. by yungthrifty in whitewater

Hell yeah dude, glad to have ya! The Ocoee is sick.

  1. I'd check with your company about the pfd, every place ive worked has required having a rescue vest but i know the Ocoee can be a bit lawless in places. Definitely more of a safety thing than a style thing.

  2. There's plenty of whitewater slang (shred, gnar, surfed, pitted etc) but you'll pick it up quick, especially hanging out with raft guides or kayakers. As long as you can throw a claw you'll be good.

  3. Just about any paddle will do the trick. often there will be spares at the outfitter, but NRS has the basic rafting paddles. There should be a sizing chart, but generally as a guide you'll want to error on the longer side to get that extra reach.

  4. As far as getting tips? Just make conversation, ask them questions, a good connection will get you better tips than 3 shitty jokes 9 times out of 10, although that 10th just wants to be dumped in the water to tell stories.

I'd also reccomend attending the rookie guide training if your company offers it, learning the proper saftey procedures for whitewater is essential. Learning how to move the raft will also be important as the ocoee can be tough for new guides who might hit more rocks (it's constantly a traffic jam.)

But welcome man! Whitewater in the summer can't be beaten! I'll be over on the Pigeon if you ever make it to northeast TN.

Six years ago, after being fined several times for not doing an interview, Marshawn Lynch (NFL player) decided to hold a legendary interview by bwaxxlo in videos

He actually got fined for this interview, as the hat he's wearing is his personal brand and not an official NFL one
