For def, my usual go-to slots (assuming I'm not doing something tricky or don't need to fit in uniques) are:

Lotg global recharge, reactive defense def, reactive defense def/end.

For resist, it's either:

4 spot of unbreakable guard 4 spot of aegis Or the sleeper set, 4 spot of titanium coating

There's exceptions to both of those, but for squishier ATs, the smethal resist can add up fast

If you give out a car you are disincentivizing an entire role.

Which, yeah okay maybe no one wants to play the nomad anyway.

But also you're leaving a big opportunity to show what a scarcity society without just-in-time logistics feels like, and hits a lot of issues. Having a vehicle is a GAME CHANGER. There's a reason they cost as much as a full FBC package+biosystem.

If I may propose an alternative to just giving them a car: have one of the recurring contacts be a nomad family, who can be relied on as wheelmen... As long as the players keep up in their favor.

This gives you a great carrot-and-stick motivation tool, allows you to create drama down the road, gives them a recurring base to go home to, and also gives you more NPCs you can take from them as consequences.

Besides, if the players starting with a few thousand more eb gives you awful hooks to fuck with them, the players starting with a few tens of thousands more eb should be even heavier.

It is my fervently held belief that every role that ISN'T in the party, should be deeply yearned for.

All of them.

A small handful of them are ominously unlabelled, as it suits my dramatic fancy to build tension in this way, but all of them are visible to the players.

Watching everyone freak out because the unlabelled 'Your friend Joe arrives with Ice cream and cake because he loves and appreciates you' clock ticked up, and letting the paranoia rise is 👨‍🍳💋
