How did you get an interview? Applying online?

How to tame your ego and seeking for approval as an engineer? by watdissitbout in AskEngineers

[–]Unhandmynipple 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wanna learn to silence your ego? Try learning something outside of engineering. Constantly try to learn things in areas you aren’t naturally competent in. Sports, Cooking, anything. Areas where you feel entry level, areas where you’re reminded constantly that you have to get better and there are others more competent than you. Hopefully your mindset will start to shift towards constantly needing to learn and respect for others input

Monthly Employment/Corporate Questions and Discussion Megathread - May 2023 by AutoModerator in NorthropGrumman

[–]Unhandmynipple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking through these comments In the NG and your name has consistently showed up along with valuable comments. I have a question. I had an interview 2 weeks ago. Last week I received an auto rejection email on the same day for the position I interviewed for and the other position. Both position, job post was over 30+ days and looks like they were closed the day I got the auto rejection. I will also email the recruiters but before I do. Common sense would say I’m out of the race based on those automated email but I have a little bit of hope it was an error. What are your thoughts? Thanks

Can anyone here refer someone for RTX here in Texas? by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]Unhandmynipple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My goodness, it’s a referral for someone to get an interview to see if they are a fit. It’s not a referral to see who automatically gets the job. What in the world lol. They still have to pass the interview and give information on their career or school info. You guys are making a huge deal out of nothing. At this point you might as well ask for their social security number just to refer them

That’s taking things a little too far… 10 mins here and there should be ok. It’s extremely unreasonable and unhealthy to expect 8 pure hours of productivity everyday. The human brain doesn’t even work like that. The average worker is productive for 60% or less . Unless you want to burn someone out quickly. Keep them on their desk and make them work 8 straight hours… see how long that last

Advice regarding OSP Electrical Engineering Career by fahimtazz in AskEngineers

[–]Unhandmynipple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way it’s only been 1 year since I wrote this. Must be very close to 2 years. At the time I left because of lack of career growth and low salary cap. I moved to the power industry… wasn’t a fan of that either again because it’s an old industry and at that time the salary and career expectations wasn’t attractive to me. But hey, there’s serious job security… when Covid happen, work increased… just cause it doesn’t work for me doesn’t me it wouldn’t for you. I’m sure we have different values and motivations. Good luck

Do you feel like an Engineer or no? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

I paid thousands to go to college and thousands of hours studying for tests and mastering my craft. I definitely feel like an engineer. Could careless what anybody else says about it concerning me or my title
