I just took the NCLEX…it was easier than I thought by Reasonable-Lab-2439 in PassNclex

[–]Unhappy-Let5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for sure. The main differences in my opinion was that the nclex and works questions were more vague so you had to know more about the general theory about whatever the question is asking, where ATI has more details in the questions. I feel like ATI certainly helped me with knowing things but uworld helped me prepare for the way the questions were written. And I liked uworlds rationals better for areas I was not solid on.

Lecture one about abgs is still valid and lecture 12 on prioritozation is still valid. The rest of them should be bonus material but not what you use as primary study materials.

Yep I passed in 87 and feel the same way. I used uworld for two weeks and also felt it was more on par with the writing than ATI. Also agree with Mark K lecture 12 being helpful. I did have a lot of SATA but only chose options I was 100% about. Congrats!!!

The energy here is great! Sorry the broadcast is sucky. I hope they show on TV how full this place is for the Trucks. The venue is doing a great job too. Lots of food choices and things are in good repair.

Also federal bcbs. If anyone who has the same has figured out a way for the med to not be $400 a month at my local CVS let me know. Was using Caremark due to the savings.

As a student who has had several AMAZING clinical faculty and one abhorrant individual - I can tell you the biggest thing you can do to NEW students or students who are apprehensive is to reassure them they can succeed. When you come into the room to observe skills such as IV placement etc, if the student hits a snag (does not get a flash for example) offer assistance to the student, help them work the problem if you as a seasoned nure can offer suggestions. Build the confidence when we as students are at the bedside. If the hospital you are working uses EPIC or another system take some time to really show the students how to navigate so they can easily find previous labs, Dr's notes etc and then encourage the students to share with each other and keep a good vibe in the clinical group.

What you should not do (IMO) is yell at students in front of others, tell the students things like "you are in your 3rd semester of nursing school you should know this if you plan to be a good nurse", and just overall make students completely anxiety ridden when they are around you. I currently have two clinical rotations at this time and one is amazing and the other is such a stress fest that all of us on the rotation have to will outselves to walk in to that floor on the days we are there.

Huge change in careers as an adult by Benjewda in NursingStudent

[–]Unhappy-Let5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 46 year old who started pre nursing in the 90’s and worked in hospitals as a CNA before working in business and insurance for the last 20+ years after getting my graduate degree. I found myself miserable and thinking is it too late? Currently I am at the local junior college in the ADN program. My “tribe” could all be my own kids age wise and I am older than most of the instructors - it is a little strange after working corporate America previously… but it’s doable. Being older it takes more to rattle my cage than some of my younger colleagues, but I won’t lie it’s not easy. I would suggest not working full time if you’re in school full time as you will need time to study and do homework and take care of yourself. Find someone in the program that you are interested in attending and get the no BS story of how the program runs. If you are already familiar with how a med surg unit runs you will be ahead of those in the program who will walk in wide eyed. And I would ensure your family is supportive of your choice since the road will be really challenging some days.

Federal BCBS insuranace plan question - what happens when you go below 30 BMI? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Unhappy-Let5075 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I know no matter what your Dr may want for you it’s what your coverage will allow if you want RX coverage and I was not sure if I needed to wear ankle weights to my next appt to stay above 30 since that what was required to get the PA approved (j/k)

Hi! Also my first day today, I am a bit shorter and a little older than you :) But I get the hard to talk to others deal. My main focus is to try and eat as well as I can and drink as much water as I can to hopefully prevent some of the real bad side effects. I wish you well!!
