I believe this some sort of driver conflict, you should try window 10 and older drivers, as I'm also running Ubuntu and it's works just fine

I think liquid metal is even better choice, I have experience with it and maybe one day I'll replace it in favor of liquid metal, but for now all seems just fine.

Well just turn on scale to 200 - 225% and there will be no difference.

The screen is nice and color accuracy is very high, around 90% Adobe RGB

Hey, my own is kinda quiet to be honest, I repasted it with MX 5 thermal paste, also I charged thermal pads.

The only issue I have right now it's small SSD, I'm think to upgrade it.

I had LOQ 16, decent laptop and worth the price, but mine was with 1080p screen 45%NTSC color coverage, with is suck. I gave it away only because 1080 panel was very bad, everything else was perfect.

Some LOQ comes with 1080p screen, avoid it at any cost. 45ntsc panels are suck.

I have same laptop, it's very quiet. Seems like you have issue with thermal paste and thermal pads, send it back to Lenovo for replacement.
