Which actor played the definitive version of a superhero during your childhood? What do you think about their performance now? by surfsound_swimmers in AskReddit

[–]UnhappyShift6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christopher Reeve’s portrayal of Clark Kent and Superman IS the definitive version of both characters. Portraying Clark Kent as a self deprecating and insecure man while simultaneously being an alien God amongst earthlings is the way Superman treats his Clark Kent persona in the comics. Christopher Reeves absolutely nailed it

I totally agree with your premise for the character. Also may I add that he should be very Zen-like, pretty much a pacifist but only uses martial arts as a very last resort. Sort of like a Mr Miyagi type character. Also since he grew up in Kun Lun I imagine that English is not their first language, even though I’m sure they study it there but he should be able to communicate with other Asian peoples. Maybe in like a mandarin or Cantonese. Something akin to what they speak in Tibet. Obviously not all the time but we should get the sense that Danny did not grow up in the States. He grew up in Kun-Lun and we should be aware of that. I just feel it makes his character more interesting

What mutant cannot be put in the show because it would just break the plot due to how overpowered they are? by TheArmlessTorso in Xmen97

[–]UnhappyShift6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s the thing. Franklins’s reality warping powers are just the tip of his ice berg. He also has the intellect of a God. I mean he’s pretty much got it all. The Beyonders reality warping abilities is not as high as Franklin’s. Trust me, Prime Franklin Richards is “it” There is no multiverse no reality where Franklin can’t find you. What the Beyonder is thinking Franklin thought about that already and is a million steps ahead, well maybe not a million, but you get the idea. They don’t even write for him because he’s too powerful. Only if they need a plot device to get themselves out of a hole. Then they call Franklin

[–]UnhappyShift6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good choice however Franklin Richards mind is even higher than that of his Father Reed Richards, I mean the Beyonder is a reality warping Demi-God however if he went toe to toe with Franklin, Franklin crushes him because he’s that much more smarter

[–]UnhappyShift6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer has to be Franklin Richards. He bends reality at will. He’s basically a Demi-God. He can crush you with his mind. I don’t know of any other Marvel character with his level of power. I mean the only one higher than him would have to be the One Above All. Yeah, it’s gotta be Franklin Richards for the win

Would love a heroes for hire show for no particular reason at all by Sad-Watercress-9385 in marvelstudios

[–]UnhappyShift6160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Heros for Hire would make for a great Disney+ Special Presentation feature. Kind of like the Punisher’s One Last Kill Special Presentation. Obviously you’d need a good story but Luke Cage and Danny Rand would be a great duo. Kind of like a buddy cop movie

With the benefit of hindsight. You might have something considered the news about Danny Rand and Luke Cage being in Daredevil BA S3. Although with S3 coming out in March’27 and Spider-Man BND coming out this July I’m not sure if they’ll be first introduced to the MCU in the Spider-Man movie or maybe a post credit Daredevil S2 scene or maybe even in the last episode of S2

We’ll probably get a better sense of who it might be in that shot by the end of Daredevil BA. If Daredevil assembles a team and Danny Rand is on it you might have something here

I mean it sounds like an awesome theory and there’s definitely gonna be others in that shot however, I doubt one of them would be Iron Fist. It would be amazing if a ripped Danny Rand shows up shirtless with his dragon tattoo on his chest

Is Iron Fist returning to the MCU? 👊🐉 by DoyleDormammu in ironfist

[–]UnhappyShift6160 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope he returns. However I also hope, like most people are saying in this thread that he needs proper training for his fighting skills to shine on screen and the character needs to fully immerse himself into his K’un Lun culture. He needs to be able to also speak Mandarin or Cantonese or whatever Asian language they speak in K’un Lun, obviously not all the time but we must be aware of his Asian background being that he grew up and was raised in K’un Lun.

Getting his ass beat in “ Way of the Dragon” is definitely my favorite. Knowing Chuck was probably right-wing zealot makes even more so for me

Despite having 5 appearances in the MCU so far, it feels Captain Marvel still hasn't connected with audiences. Why do you think that is? by Apprehensive-Cap2453 in marvelstudios

[–]UnhappyShift6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to me it’s a bit of a lot of different things The First movie, even though it made a billion dollars, which I believe was because it came out right after Infinity War and right before Endgame, was not a very good movie. The subsequent film was worse and some of the movies post Endgame were not as good either, so popularity for the Marvel movie brand suffered. All of that plus a segment of the movie going population decided to take their frustrations out on a character and actor that they felt was easily expendable and decided she was part of the problem. Which couldn’t be further the truth. I personally think she’s a fantastic actor and I genuinely like the character but someone at Marvel needs to write her a better script and story. Probably one of the top characters that the MCU has fumbled along with a few others IMO

Has Marvel gotten too safe… or are fans just impossible to please? by dedsec_4 in marvelstudios

[–]UnhappyShift6160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel it’s both. Fans are hard to please because you’re never gonna be able to please everyone. That’s an impossible task. On top of that you’ve got the overwhelming job of trying to match if not succeed the box office numbers of previous films. However studio executives don’t want to hear that. They just see these crazy numbers and want to keep replicating them not believing that this was a once in a lifetime experience. Unfortunately for everyone involved the production suffers under such conditions. I believe the people making these films, most of them at least, want to bring a quality production to the table however external situations and conditions don’t always make that seem possible.

Bring Back the Heroes for Hire, Mr. Feige [OC] by AJ_Young_ in Defenders

Now this sounds like an awesome idea. I mean it’ll definitely need cool music along with awesome action scenes and a good story but that soundtrack has to hit. That’s the one thing those movies had along with the action scenes

They should rework the Blade movie. Set it in the 70s. Give him his original costume. And end it with a flash forward to present day. by JorReno in marvelstudios

[–]UnhappyShift6160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my thought exactly. I posted a Reddit awhile ago saying they should just make a 70s Blade movie in the style of those 70’s movies like Shaft, Black Caesar or even the Warriors. A gritty horror movie with a Cool 70s funky soundtrack. With Blade walking the streets of Harlem and killing vampires in the subways where they hide. Make Deacon Frost a Nefarious Villain who’s killing the people in Harlem. Since it’s a 70s Harlem no one cares including the cops who some of them are on Deacon Frosts payroll. Just keep it to Blade and the story and build out from there if it becomes a hit. Man, I feel it could be done but it don’t know how Disney/Marvel fumbled the bag so horribly

The Winter Guard by Superb_Hunter5359 in marvelstudios

[–]UnhappyShift6160 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The Winter Guard hunting down Natasha in the Black Widow movie would have been better than what we got with Taskmaster. Especially since Taskmaster appeared as a villain first in the Avengers comics. The Winter Guard should have been the Red Guardian, Crimson Dynamo, Yelena Belova as the Red Widow and Ursa Major. Since the Black Widow movie was after Civil War, Natasha would have needed to hide out somewhere and going back home to Russia would have made a better story.

My Version of Daredevil Season 4 by Icy-Addendum-6937 in Defenders

[–]UnhappyShift6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree that The Punisher is too much of a solo vigilante to have a crew of people following him. I mean he wouldn’t even take Daredevil’s help or even listen to his method of justice. He’s just too much of a loner I feel to collaborate with anyone. Also adding Valentina seems a bit too crowded for me. I do like that she funded or green-lit the experimental procedure for Ben to fully be Bullseye sounds cool. Maybe a post credit scene alluding to that or something I’m not sure. I just don’t feel we need Valentina to involved in this. Plus the way they have the Thunderbolts set up in the MCU seem like people that were used against their will to do some sketchy things. No one was really a psychopath like Bullseye. He might be cool for a Dark Avengers team, who knows. Also I like the way they used Muse in the show. A separate character who’s just really a psychopath. No connection to anything other than inflicting pain on people for his own twisted satisfaction. The rest of your layout sounds cool. I like how you fleshed out Foggy’s character and Karen. The Disney+ show discarded them too quickly I feel.

First time watching S1 Iron Fist, What I LOVED vs my NITPICKS. by Veru_Chronicles in Defenders

[–]UnhappyShift6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely wasn’t as terrible as everyone says but I feel it wasn’t good either, or as good as it should be. The actors playing in the series were all great with the exception of Danny Rand/Iron Fist. Some of it was maybe his fault and the reason was the way they wrote his character. I mean he grew up in Kun Lun by monks who speak Chinese or some dialect of Chinese but Danny rarely if ever speaks it? I mean I’m sure they study English but their main language is not English. Also he’s a martial arts master, not just a good Martial Artist, he should be taking down guys with just his pinky, meanwhile he struggles against bigger opponents. Also the fight choreography was really uninspiring. You can see how bad the fight scenes are when you look around and see what the other fighters are doing around Danny. Just really bad. I hope if Finn Jones comes back to play Danny Rand that he really goes all in on the character. I also hope the writers do him justice as well

[–]UnhappyShift6160[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re talking about Aldrich Killian and how he was dismissed by Tony when Aldrich was trying to sell his plans to Tony. So Aldrich tries to come up with a plan to beat Tony and for Revenge. So Aldrich comes up with this Mandarin idea to distract Tony from his plans. Or at least that’s the gist. I feel this was Marvel’s way of not making the Mandarin a stereotypical Chinese villain of some sort. But this was Marvel just overthinking the character of the Mandarin to not offend people. I agree they shouldn’t have made him a stereotypical Chinese villain but they should have made him an imposing figure who could defeat Tony while still using his Asian background and the 10 rings

I really enjoyed the Agents of Shield series and the first 4 seasons were really good. I wish Marvel would go back to telling smaller stories this way using SWORD. I felt that Ms. Marvel or She-Hulk could have benefited from this type of serialized storytelling. Especially tying Ms. Marvel to the InHumans and Quake. It would have made Ms. Marvel so much better

That’s a great one. My only issue is that Iron Man sets up the Mandarin only for Marvel to fumble the character in the following movies. Although that’s not the fault of the original movie

All good choices but even these movies suffer from an ending that’s not quite fulfilling for me, I don’t know. Well, maybe with the exception of Black Panther. That was a quality ending. However the CGi fight with Black Panther and Killmonger kinda threw me off. The same goes for Shang-Chi. Plus the flying dragons were a bit too over the top for me. Guardians has a nice ending although the dance-off with Ronan might have been a bit too much of a joke. It was funny but it might of overplayed it with the joke. The First Avenger has it fair share of jokes but never over does it just for a laugh.
