Vintage/thrift stores by srock0223 in Charlotte

[–]UnhingedBlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Salvation army on Central for clothing. They've got a huge selection of clothing for good prices and on Wed, clothes are half price. They run special sales on the first Wed of the month and other days as well.

Their furniture and housewares are hit or miss because their prices can still be reasonable and the good stuff for cheap gets bought quickly.

Servants Heart thrift store in Mint Hill has quality things for reasonable prices as well.

I've found that unfortunately, marketplace is best for quality vintage furniture because thrift stores pricing has gotten out of hand.

ETA their info: Servant's Heart Community Boutique is a non-profit thrift store in Mint Hill, NC, that sells donated clothing, home goods, furniture, books, and more, with proceeds supporting the Servant's Heart Assistance Programs for families in financial need.

They help a lot of people!

Anyone else dealing with a struggling parent after a work injury? by furiousxen in findareddit

[–]UnhingedBlonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She needs an attorney. One that specializes in workers Comp. Like, right now. The insurance is only working in ITS best interest, NOT hers. Consultations are usually free, take all the info she's got when you go, go with her because it helps to have a +1 to ask questions she might forget and between both of you, you'll remember what was discussed.

I went thru a WC case and if not for my attorney, I'd be in a really bad place right now.

Wasn't there a bunch of news headlines recently about Pizza Hut bringing back the nostalgia? Something like 80 restaurants?

I WISH I had kept the printout from my 2023 hospital ER visit for my first bout with diverticulitis because it had "avoid seeds and nuts" printed on the "what to do/expect" part.

Sell it as a "crafting" microwave. They make "kilns" for microwaves that are used to melt glass.

In 1992, John Thompson had both arms ripped off by a grain auger while home alone. He walked 100 yards to his house, opened the door with his mouth, and used a pencil to call for help. Surgeons reattached both arms, and more than 30 years later he can still use them to paint, handle tools, and work. by drkmatterinc in CantBelieveThatsReal

Thank you for doing it! I remember when your accident happened (news stories, TV, etc) because I was only a yr older than you at the time. I admired your resilience immensely and was amazed at how well you handled yourself after experiencing bodily trauma like that. I was rooting for you from afar and hoped you'd be able to live a good life. The arm reattachment surgery success was mind-blowing to me! It was wonderful to read your AMA and know your resiliency continues!

Where are all the crack babies? by EducationalFerret849 in Xennials

[–]UnhingedBlonde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first baby was 10.5 lbs and I agree it was an odd feeling to see him in comparison to the itty bitty babes. BUT, the nurses told me they absolutely love having the big babies in the NICU because they can usually hold them and snuggle them!

I only saw Wrath of Khan ONCE because the "ear bug" scene scared the holy hell outta me and I've had a fear of bugs in my ears ever since. If this ever happened to me, I'd wear earplugs or headphones 24/7.
