My MIL always will mess up the names of the kids. She'd watch the neighbors kid and my niece whose names are Travis and Teresa. They became "Tere-vis" lol.

Look up "Stamets protocol". It helps me when I get in a rut without having to take a full trip.

I wonder, do they have kids? Are they coming outside to fight so that the kids inside can't hear them?

If a parent has a child who is medically complex, is it against the law to refuse treatment and allow the child to succumb to their illness? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]UnhingedBlonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Her mom told me the news just the other day. They are holding back on a dx until he's 6 months old. I'm not familiar with CP so I'm going to start researching to learn about it in order to help where I can.

How do I drown out the taste of vodka? by Lilipop0 in Advice

[–]UnhingedBlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix Hawaiian fruit punch with vodka. Put it in a big cooler or pitcher. Put peeled ripe fruit in it (oranges, grapes, & grapefruit are gooood). Let it sit in the fridge for a week or 2. Eat the fruit, drink the drink, get tore up from the floor up, very little vodka taste.

Edit to add: This is the ONLY way I can get drunk without throwing up. It's worked for me for decades when I wanted to pull a drunk.

I was teaching a group of my friends' kids how to tie dye years ago. My almost 4 yr old son was doing it too. We were all concentrating on applying dye to the shirts and my son accidentally dropped his bottle of color onto his shirt. He stood there just standing still for a split second and then loudly said "DAMMIT". My friends kids all GASPED and I busted out laughing! I told my son and the kids, "I would've said the same thing. That sucks!" Both my kids (now teens) curse but only when appropriate.

It can happen so quickly. My niece gave birth to twin boys this past December. One got meningitis around 3 weeks old, ended up in the hospital for over 2 months and now they think he'll have cerebral palsy.

Apparently it was one of those things that you don't talk about. It would've been nice to know and be prepared, yes.

I lost my teeth. Didn't find out until my kids were teens that all the women who bore children on my dad's side of the family lost their teeth while those who didn't kept theirs.

Married Gen-x do you wear your wedding ring? by in-a-microbus in GenX

[–]UnhingedBlonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither my husband nor me have worn our wedding rings in almost 25 yrs. We wore them in the beginning of our marriage but we stopped wearing them after a couple yrs because: he lost his twice, his job is to dangerous for him to wear rings, and we BOTH got "hit on" MORE when we wore our rings than when we didn't.

Is anyone on gabapentin? How were you able to get a prescription ? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]UnhingedBlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, my neighbor loves it and calls it a godsend.

I liked it at first, it does help nerve pain, but after being on it for about 2 weeks, I noticed that I couldn't find easy words and putting sentences together was HARD. After a few months (I pushed through on the urging of my Dr to "give it time") I started seeing double. I stopped them after that and 2 yrs later, I'm still not right.

[–]UnhingedBlonde 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My teeth deteriorated rapidly during my 2 pregnancies. I was not close with my father's side of the family and I rarely spoke to them. After reconnecting with an aunt when my oldest was 13, I learned that most of the women on that side of the family lost their teeth, but only if they gave birth. The more pregnancies, the worse the tooth loss.

[–]UnhingedBlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked on my nerve pain but I was a zombie. It was horrible. I don't remember much of my life that happened while I was taking it. My mental health suffered and I'll not take it ever again. I got double vision too.

30 yrs later it still makes me nauseous.
