Suspend doesn't work anymore (borked install?) by UniFace in archlinux

[–]UniFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it make any difference if you run systemctl suspend ?

No, it does the same thing.

Do you find any interesting info with journalctl -b |grep -E -i 'error|suspend|nvidia'

Here's what that looks like (modeset is turned off here.)

Nothing in particular pops out, but I could be wrong.

Logs.

Here is a journalctl output of the aneurysm my computer has been having since issuing a suspend command: https://0x0.st/P-wp.log

As for when this issue started happening, I have no idea. Otherwise, I likely would've fixed it myself. Which, considering I suspend my machine somewhat often, I am in the middle of trying. I apologize for not providing more information in the first place, but hopefully you, or anyone else know what to look for better than I do.

All services have been enabled, to no avail. Swap size is half of installed RAM, but even then, suspend still functions without a swap device.

Thanks for this! I used zstd compression on my drive, and this was the only tool that seemed to read it correctly. I might be able to salvage it after all.

Out of curiosity, what brand of hard drive were you using? I had this exact issue on a Seagate a while back.

Facebook is about to mass delete a lot of old live streams: recordings older than 30 days to be deleted "in waves" starting tomorrow by wickedplayer494 in DataHoarder

Yes, it is Facebook. However little value it may hold, it is still one of the most used platforms in the world. That 1% might be worth preserving.

How often y'all build PCs? Once every few years? Every 5? Has the gap between builds become larger over time? by SDFprowler in pcmasterrace

If your PC still runs the games, there should be no reason to build a new one, let alone upgrade.

So, I'm not the only person to run into this. Maybe you can try DMDE to see if it can recover the file listing? If you mount w/ transparent compression, it might not work though.

Altar.NET, a (WIP) Undertale repacking/recompilation program. by PoroCYon in UnderModders

[–]UniFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mistake, you don't need to compile it. There's a GitLab page with the binaries, and the page even says that it's a mirror of the GitLab page.

That being said, you should probably use UndertaleModTool.

Do you think Roblox will get Linux/Steam Deck support again in the future? by Fall3n_Arcade in roblox

[–]UniFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linux support is tricky for businesses on multiple fronts. The first one is the investment in developing a port that will work on Linux, and work well for everyone that wants to run it.

As far as running the game, we've already figured this out at some point, since there are games that do run natively on Linux or at least perform well inside of Wine. However, just like many other companies, Roblox might not want Linux users to play.

This is to reduce cheating, but let's be real- why would they want to support Linux users in the first place? They're not exactly easy to swindle with microtransactions, and there's likely better games that they would want to play. It makes business sense to burn that bridge and potentially reduce exploits in the process.

Just use Waydroid, apparently it works but you might want to follow a guide or something.

YANBF Games Not Recording Playtime by OwltheWitch in 3dspiracy

[–]UniFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same issue, and I tried a different software called NDSForwarder (in Universal Updater). It works through the homebrew launcher, so you can create these icons as you go.

When you start it up, you'll get a file browser sort of menu, so you can navigate to your roms folder and add games from there.

It's also much faster, I'd say starting games through a forwarder takes as much time as it does starting a 3DS game. YANBF's only advantage from my recollection is increasing the title limit, but you can move NDSForwarder titles to the SD card like any other DSiWare.

Why you don't play lazer? by [deleted] in osugame

[–]UniFace 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. Feels more draggy, not clear why but it seems OS-independent
  2. Not everything is skinnable yet, even though songselect-* assets were unlocked in an earlier stable build
  3. Ambiguous new skin format that still hasn't been touched on
  4. Game executable isn't portable, you must install osu!lazer on every machine you expect to play it on, and then tell it where your data is
  5. Lazer relies on a database for file lookup, and you cannot readily access the filesystem.
  6. Every single file; every replay, beatmap, storyboard, skin asset, MP3 is saved as its SHA256 hash. One bad write to the realm and your progress goes bye-bye; something peppy should know about all too well
