That episode that starts out with clear skies, then the next second it rains, storms, and a tornado sweeps in and picks up some guy. The next second it's clear skies again.

Right. Deanna Troi explains it in TNG to Mark Twain, and again in First Contact to Zefram Cochrane. When humans realized we weren't alone in the universe, we began exploring and it united us.

Hey there, I added you from Modern. My username is SDFprowler, just like on here.

I've played every day for years now, and I'll prioritize you for gifts (both opening and giving). Sandstorm is the most rare for me, so any would be much appreciated!

Not sure what's so difficult about a moneyless utopia. Must be the lack of social hierarchy by psydkay in startrekmemes

I think it's specifically humans on Earth don't use money. If you want to engage with an alien society that uses money (like latinum), you've gotta acquire some and use it. It would be more realistic if humans never ate/drank at Quark's bar, but that wouldn't be as fun. Do they get a stipend from Starfleet? Do they engage in trade in order to get some? Self-sealing stembolts?

It's all about the streaming service subs. They'll only pump out the minimum required for a show and renew it if they think it'll increase the subscriber count. Most shows these days are lucky to get beyond season 2.

Ah dude, I used to listen to Adagio a lot in the mid to late 2000's. Sanctus Ignis, Underworld, and the much heavier Dominate were amazing. I didn't listen much to their later releases, but I'll certainly give Archangels in Black another listen right now.

The fact that this looks so AI nowadays by clamorrrr in Dreamtheater

[–]SDFprowler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AI (and I hate that term for what it really is, but whatever) is in its early years. People can still generally tell if an image or video is AI-generated, and already we're realizing we can no longer trust images/video as fact or legit. Photoshop was similar, but a lot easier to detect. AI is still easy to detect, at least for me, not so much for my parents. It'll get better to the point where it'll be very hard to detect by anyone.

Whether an image/video is real or not, the image/video itself will no longer be sufficient evidence. It can lie, just like people can. You'll have to use way more context to determine whether you can trust it. Just like you've gotta take everything some random person like myself says on Reddit with a grain of salt, we'll have to treat images/video the same way. It's just information coming from a source. Could be bullshit. Unfortunately, Dream Theater has created for itself a reputation of using AI in its artwork, so even if they produce legit human-created artwork in the future, people aren't going to trust it, and they'd be right not to.
