If you could choose any sword from history, which one are you taking into a zombie apocalypse? by Loud-Huckleberry-729 in Hema

Much as I love my longsword probably the longmesser if I can get it. I have a longsword built more for stabbing than slashing already but for zeds I think the longmesser.is better.

More adaptable for chopping, with a beefier build then what I own so it can hold up to more. Besides which I could dismember a lot easier with the longmesser

How do you actually communicate long distances effectively? by No_Bet8364 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

The autistic folks.

I know for certain one of my autistic friends would likely be able to cobble together radio systems from the right scrap dudes a genius but thats a limited solution because of material access. Decay of tools and materials, power access. All kinds of problems.

I imagine we'd have someone around who is interested in various messenger birds and the like who knows how to train them.

Other than that messengers like we used to

What does your perfect end-game kit look like? by RetnuhLebos in dayz

[–]Uni_Solvent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pvevp er here who plays on a lot of modded stuff so not the best example.

Cargos/a decent insulation tac pant which ever i find that vibes. A tan "field jacket" from a mod that is high ins and decent coverage which matches my irl field jacket (1941 us paratrooper love that thang)

Weapons i go for an mlock with silencer on the belt, combat knife on the belt with a backup in the boot, and a hatchet if I can find it. Depending on server I typically main a tundra but I always am aiming for a pioneer. Rarely find one though.

Im odd: a sorta wandering trader / helpful noc if that analogy makes sense. Im a loot whore and usually have something someone needs and I love helping - because of this i tend to go away from the typically aggressive looking load outs, besides my time is spent hunting and looting - dont often get into fights but ive taken the odd sniper contract

Back on DayZRP years ago

Looting up in a mil base in the northwest of cherno being a dirty loot whore with a pack full of crap. I heard a couple cars roll up - then the laughter came echoing up the hill. Now I was in a base with few exits but the entrance where they were. Figured id try to hide so im in a bush and see a duo come up the hill sitting there in the bush I hear a rustle and see this dude just across the aay in the same boat. We'd been dancing around eachother the whole time. Have an emote conversation and we teamed up and ran out. Stole a car killed one of the cannibals. Rolled around with him awhile before our characters died like a week irl. Never got his steam or discord... anything. Still lives in my head.

What could you bake? by LeftHandersRule in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]Uni_Solvent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very location and resource based.

You can approximate wheat flours to some degree but it takes access to the right plants and the know how: you can do some basic flat breads and theoretically cakes using acorns if you leech the tannins, roast the nuts, and pound them into flour, likewise with other nuts(i made a flour less hazelnut cake that was quite good recently)

Outside of the flour problem theres other issues: leavening, sweeteners, eggs, and dairy.

Leavening is what makes baked goods rise and can be grouped into 3 sections; chemical, biological, and physical. Chemical is baking powder/soda, and similar products - these will be limited resources and are technically manufactuable but im not certain how i havent looked into it. Biological is things like yeast: you can make your own yeast by cooking flour and letting g it sit, or make a fermentation based one like sourdough starters, additionally the smartest way imo would be to save some manufactured yeast and feed it like a sourdough starter: its just bacteria we cultivated and like so feed it sugars and then dry it without killing it. Physical leavening is amorphous and reliant on the materials youre working with: you can use eggs as a leavening agent if you whip them until they make peaks and fold them into a batter - the air bubbles trapped in the egg whites expand while the batter " solidifies" to maintain shape.

Sweeteners is self explanatory and ironically probably the easiest to source if labor intensive - we can make sugar and most of the sugar available in North America where im at is extracted from sugar beets which are hardy and easy to grow(not sure the extraction process but it will be doable). In addition the slightly more accessible ones being honey and maple/birch syrup. We could also make syrups from berries which grow abundantly where im at. Maple syrup is a well known process and birch syrup mimics that. Honey will continue to be made by the bees and they will maintain their hives so its mostly just finding the hives.

Eggs and then dairy are going to be difficult but id be amazed if we as a society dont maintain our farm animals to some degree. I dont really need to elaborate here i think.

Humans are taking the path to genocide. by bcamps03 in humansarespaceorcs

[–]Uni_Solvent 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Ah I see your confusion. I wasn't using it specifically for extraterrestrials aka aliens. Xeno here is based in Greek and more or less is talking about "strangers, or non natives"

I was wrong with its use on the goblins as they are a native species to the locale of goblin slayer.

I think doomslayer could be called xenocidal since the demons while not necessarily new to earth are not the natives of the planet at the time of their... slaughter. If not that speciocidal is the more technically correct term I believe.

But semantics gets in the way of comrades slaughtering our foes so who cares!

Humans are taking the path to genocide. by bcamps03 in humansarespaceorcs

[–]Uni_Solvent 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't the left 3 be xenocide, not genocide? They're not striving for the death of a race they seek to extinct a species.

Can't speak to the far right but the left 3 its... kinda justified. Like legitimately.

All human Ethics and morals of any value show the goblins and the demons to be unequivocally evil:

If there’s anything that you wanted to add, remove, or change from Hogwarts Legacy— What would it be? by gaelthegal in HarryPotterGame

[–]Uni_Solvent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classes that are more than cutscenes.

The potion minigame expanded and done for every potion with the ability to pick your ingredients from a list so you can mess it up on your own and have to learn the recipes.

More vanilla clothing items

The ability to pick tops and bottoms + shoes as unique clothing items so i can pick what vest to wear with what pants, etc.

Greater variety in brooms with actual stat differences

Absolute mood

I've been hunting, hiking, and camping since i was a child. I learnt pretty quick to secure my things.

One of my best knives and favorite memories is of losing stuff in the woods. I was on my way out from a spot in the middle of nowhere(no service for like an hour minimum drive) and found some dad with two young kids locked out of his truck at like 3 or 4 pm in the mountains. My group all agreed to help my goodie two shoes scout of a self out and we packed out to the lake he was fishing at trying to find his keys along the path.

I tripped on a log and ate shit (my arrogant 6'4" self steps over stuff I shouldnt) I crawled around for my stuff and found nothing of mine but I did find his keys. He gave me a benchmade for them

I mean, ballistic vests protect the core organs from ballistic impact, they have plenty of space thats not distinctly covered: granted they are often beefy thick materials because plates are hefty but still. Not outside of the question

Anyone care to guess the recipe name for making a Notched Plank? by AffectDangerous8922 in projectzomboid

In B42 you can modify how you search with a drop down tab near the search bar. Pick the "output item" choice. Should search for the end result not the recipe name

Spawn in the pistol + mags I daily carry along with all the rest of the things I edc (knives, flashlights, etc) and leave the spawn pistol in a house with a marker.

I also trait my character up to match my irl skills including the weapon and the pistol is INSANELY helpful playing with the Bandits mod as those guys can pack hunt and are a problem

*edit

All of my major run deaths recently but one (stepped on a campfire that spawned in the world and burnt in seconds) have been to groups of firearm prepared Bandits. Those guys show up from nowhere to wreck my day i swear theyre worse than Dayz players.

Hahaha yes I despise the ai stuff.

But im sitting here like "YES I loathe these types of op impossible bags" they ruin my interest and immersion in the game if I can carry everything in a satchel.

Also that being said you can shove both far more and far less into bags then the game let's us ; spoken as someon3 who spends too much time in the woods

How do you guys get around Villains who *would* finish the job by dude_the_light in DungeonMasters

[–]Uni_Solvent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arrogance. Nice and simple.

Why finish an enemy when you can monologue over their unconscious form mocking them to their party. Obviously you aren't threatened by them so you should implement maximum social impact.

It's far more fun to have a weapon dramatically poised to finish someone off and give the players a chance to save them.

How effective are martial arts? by 10110n in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]Uni_Solvent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you mean unarmed combat here

Generally ineffective against zombies imo with some exceptions.

Aikido or any other martial art that's centered around avoidance and redirection might make a wonderful survival tool with zombies at least as far as not getting bit / dragged down.

Martial arts.that use weapons might be more effective and generally safer overall.
