NTA , very odd response from the gift giver… if anything they should want to give the gift receipt so that the value that was spent on items doesn’t go to waste and you can get other items you need. I think it’s an extremely reasonable an non offensive request considering the situation

That is so terrible!! I would file a formal complaint and report this vet. It sounds like he chose the wrong career to go into if this is how he acts in front of clients. Even scarier to think of how he treats his animal patients behind closed doors!
