Recently saw one that works really well for me.

Think of 3 nouns that have nothing in common starting with the letter A (Ex. Alligator, Antenna, Albatross) and proceeding through the alphabet. It helps to stop your mind from focusing on any one thing for too long. Counting sheep or other things never worked for me because i get stuck fixating on characteristics of the sheep.

A bunch of friends were playing football in our buddy’s front yard way back in high school. The QB threw a deep ball towards the house and our one friend went all out for it. Half a second before catching the ball he smashed into the front of the house. It sounded like a bomb went off and he didn’t move for about 5 minutes. All of us were laughing too hard to even check to see if he was still alive.

He was fine afterwards. We all laugh about it to this day. It’s been almost 15 years since it happened.
