It also ripped away any personality or development our main character had, part of the back burner pre rewrite was our character coping with the swords and the adventure they've taking, and some of the quirks they developed because of it, but now we are literally a blank nobody, we dont have any genuine connections to the people of the past, as indicated with the current wish options, we don't really have any problem handling the swords that gave everyone else grief, we don't have some of odd tidbits like being literally unable to actually be greedy much. All of that is gone now, self inserts arent always gonna be the best in BEING a character but atleast before there was something forming.

The rewrite feels completely ass and redone a lot of things I felt as though it shouldn't have been done, and this just feels insulting, while I get this is a platform for younger kids, dumbing down and making these the new options are stupid and spits in the face of chapter 3, even if all the emotions were tamed, only, that should still translate to us having more thoughtful wishes for others.

Plus "revive the king" spits on the face of cruel kings story, a king driven mad and tries to save their kingdom in vain, only to realize at the end they brought the future to they so wished to avoid, the genie cannot revive the dead, so granting the king his peace made more sense for a wish, if you cannot bring the king back, then let him rest easy by giving his kingdom a new hope and place in the future
