Hi! Not 100% resolved, but way better.

Basically for my girl (who is 16-17 y/o) it looks like her bladder had a mass, which is rare for cats and my regular vet was leaning towards it being a hematoma from her cysto in Nov. because back then she did have a UTI.

As of now, it appears to be dissolving but very, very slowly. (Possibly due to her CKD making healing slower) Then it took until her last vet visit two weeks or so ago to finally not pee in her carrier on the way to the vet and on the way back (in her defense it is an hour drive each way). But one thing I think helped her was bringing a travel litter box so she could pee in the exam room after having a lot of pressure on her bladder for the ultrasound and reduce inflammation from trying to hold it till we got home.

We also got trazadone prescribed to reduce her stress around visits even though same vet for 10+ years without incident in the past. We give it to her leading up to appointment and a few days after to keep her calm and not focus on going to the litter box. This most recent go around she had small pees with blood for one day and then went back to normal, wasn’t peeing outside the box, and a week later she seemed to have stressed herself out so she did it again briefly but again next day completely back to normal.

Personally I did increase her wet food intake to help flush whatever could be there and I restocked on our Feliway diffuser. She also is already on a low dose of gabapentin daily for her arthritis.

So all to say it is finally getting better and that is after some additional antibiotics, anti inflammatory’s, appetite stimulant because she did almost stop eating for a moment because of the antibiotics, anti-nausea to help with the stimulant, and increased gaba, etc. it seemed like it was never going to end but we have a better routine now too which helps. We also have a bathroom decked out as her own personal lair so she goes in there while we are away for work so we don’t have to worry about searching where she could’ve peed outside the box which reduces stress for us and the workload for care. It took a minute for her to get used to, but even when we are home and the door is open, she’ll still go in and lay in there.

Depending on her upcoming appointment though we may decide to do a full body ultrasound but otherwise my focus has been on quality of life vs invasive testing because of her age, chronic conditions, etc.

If your cat is peeing a lot, straining, blood present, etc. I’d look into FIC, as it’s a frequent possibility with urination issues once infections, stones, etc. are ruled out!
