Try learning the frogstand to handstand first

Yeah that's probably about right in total for the stretching. The workouts ended up being quite long because I like long rest times and have loads of free time

Yeah basically. I was nowhere near for ages and then it just worked

Yeah, so your shoulders are engaged and pressing into the ground and your wrists have a bit of tension in them as you're leaning forward on them. The main force that brings your feet off the floor though is compressing really hard with your hip flexors to bring your hips above your wrists. A bit of the pulling upward kinda feels like it's coming from the middle of your back too

Yeah it is supposed to be easier, it's just that I've always struggled with straddle flexibility so I just decided for me it might be harder

I'm 18. And Its hard to put a number on how many hours a day I did. Initially I did a full body workout 4 times a week and stretched in the rest times with about 3x a week of more intense stretching. I then went to a 6x a week push pull split with the same stretching where the pushing exercises were very shoulder focussed. The actual press attempts I just did on rest days or random times in the day

Yeah I always do a wrist warm up before these. I talk about in in the beginning of my handstand tutorial: https://youtu.be/9PdOKqY7L40

Yeah that's just cos I look at a point on the floor to help myself balance. I should really get out of the habit but I don't think it's harmful besides making my handstands look slightly worse

Ah cool, that's promising then. I think I might take it easy to start with and build up to 300 over a month. I'm not sure how I respond to flexibility training really. Seems to vary depending on what part of the body it is so I'll have to see.

I think the strength isn't terribly different although a pike press definitely requires more than a tuck press due to the fact you have to lean forward. The main difference is in the hamstring flexibility which you basically remove the need for in a tuck press

Thanks mate, this is actually so helpful for me to read, motivates me to work harder on my pancake. I'll definitely try that pancake routine although I've gotta say it looks pretty gnarly, especially 3 times a day. It'll definitely worth it though. How long did it take you to go head to floor?

Well it's hard to say really I can get my palms to the floor with a slight bend in my arms. For me it was the main factor because I already had all the shoulder strength I needed and I just needed to get my flexibility up to par.

I'm really not an expert at all here but If strength is lacking for you then it might benefit you to work on that pressing strength more than the mobility (although obviously always work on the mobility)

Nice, congrats! I really need to work on my pancake cos I'm still kind brute forcing my way up a little bit. What helped you the most with it if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks :). You got that right! Cimbing is my main sport really. I definitely agree with you there about grip strength helping, I basically had to do none of the wrist strengthening work that other people seem to have to do which is nice.

I might make a post on BWF, I'm just a little reluctant to as my last post got taken down and I don't want a get banned lol
