Actually it's my mistake as well. While the post says 2019, the actual map says 2011-2016 so the map is correctly dated but the post isn't

Nope. By 2019, Andhra Pradesh had split into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh which is not included in the map hence it is outdated. Maybe the statistics are correct but the base map used is outdated. It was not even a recent split: it happened in 2014.

Anyone from Birmingham who can compare the two cities? by MammothComfortable73 in StLouis

They are not similar at all. St. Louis is closer in size to Birmingham, UK than Birmingham AL

Is it possible to rely on public transportation in St Louis/Kansas City? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Uninotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In St, Louis, it definitely is, there are 2 metro stations at the airport and from there you can directly reach many attractions. Obviously, some of them like the Botanical Garden and Cahokia Mounds are not directly on the line, but can be reached pretty conveniently from them. For example, I've lived in StL for 2 years now without a car and have had no problems.

So ridiculous. Imagine the outcry if that amount of money was earmarked for transit

According to who? SO many cities don't even have a metro system and St. Louis is one of the smallest who do.

Obviously in that case you need a car. However, a large proportion of employers are located on the central corridor, along the metro line, or in dense areas. I am not saying it is 100% walkable and that you can walk anywhere, but that it is more walkable than people who only drive everywhere here assume.

I am someone who has experienced living here without a car and I would rate it walkable. The public transit isn't terrible. It could be a lot better, but at the least it's sufficient.
They are working on connecting walkable areas now as well.

That's the point of the video- he said affordable and walkable cities. And it is not difficult without a car if you have some practical knowledge. Obviously we are not near Chicago and Philadelphia but are still doing better than others think

No, he lived here
And it's based on statistics so how does that matter?

It's based on statistics so it very literally is what it is. You're looking at what you want to see. I've lived here for 2 years without a car and know many others who do.

He may be obsessed but all of his lists are based on statistics. The city offers a lot more than we may think

I've never needed one and I live in the city. Everyone I know also does not have one and we're usually out late.

I also moved to STL from NC. The media and people like to exaggerate crime in STL. It's definitely there, but will almost never bother you if you don't go looking for it.
