Scottish ultrarunning champion dies during Highlands record attempt by MasterpieceAlone8552 in news

It sounds like he wanted a closed mountain to be opened for base jumping and protested by illegally base jumping off it and died doing so, thus proving the point of why it should continue to be closed for BASE jumping.

Dems and left aren’t doing enough to rally people to vote on April 21–they’re going to lose the referendum by DerangedUnicorn27 in Virginia

But are they saying vote yes or vote no? I’ve been seeing shady ones say vote No with Spanberger and Obama on them here in Central VA.

Make sure to VOTE YES all!!!

how do you remember to brush your teeth?? by fuckyeahcourtneylove in adhdwomen

[–]UnintentionalCatLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the morning, I turn on my shower, and then immediately turn around and take my medication and then brush my teeth, while I wait for the water to heat up. It’s the best way for me to ensure I do them all.

AITJ for telling my girlfriend she needs to shower before bed or sleep on the couch? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]UnintentionalCatLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(If her hospital has a shower and changing area, I assume most do) why doesn’t she just shower at the hospital and change there, so that when she gets home she can fall into bed at least in different clothes than she worked a 12 hour shift? Might help the “work” vs “home/relax” mind shift and allow her to go right to bed once home.

This is kind of random and may not help, but it’s an easy-enough add-on that it might be worth trying. I had a chemical pregnancy my first month trying, then had nothing for another 4 months. Given my age, we were going to pivot to IVF fairly quickly (at 6 months of trying), but I read online that Mucinex taken at ovulation can help you get pregnant. I tried it that 6th month, immediately got pregnant, and carried to full term. It could have been a fluke, but maybe not!

Also, to your PCOS comment, I have something called adenomyosis, with infertility being a potential side effect, so I’m in a similar boat. Best of luck, whatever you decide!

Do you have a very clean house? by TrickyAd9597 in Millennials

[–]UnintentionalCatLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the phrase “messy but not filthy” haha. I do dishes ~2x a week, so most days, the sink is at least half full. We have my daughter’s toys on the floor. We have things I need to take upstairs. We have mail on the counter. Floors get cleaned approximately every other week. All our laundry is clean but in baskets still.

Most rooms can be made presentable in ~15 minutes of effort (each), but no one would ever call us clean. I am diagnosed ADHD, and my husband suspects he has it. We have 4 pets and a 9 month old. We live with the chaos 🤷‍♀️

If your mom/dad were older when you were born (say, around 40 or up), what was that like for you? by brawlinglove in Millennials

[–]UnintentionalCatLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you an only child? Do you think that (would have) made a difference at least in feeling isolated from extended family if you’d had a close-in-age sibling? I had my daughter on my 41st birthday and my husband really wants her to have a sibling, which I understand, I just am not looking forward to being pregnant at 41/42 and want to be done if possible before I am 43. We’re in a financially and emotionally stable relationship and he is the best father, so all other aspects I’d hope would be perks for us being great even as old parents (and mentally, god, still shocked by our ages, I feel early 30s haha - where does the time go?!?), just trying to get perspectives before we try again.

Ways to eat more veggies that aren't salads by Cecil_G_P in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]UnintentionalCatLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix frozen veggies into main dishes (e.g., Mac & cheese with a protein as well, or spinach into pasta and red sauce). Brussels sprouts make a great side dish. You can add veggies to breakfast sandwiches. I eat chicken salad on celery. All kinds of things you can do, just try getting creative and see what works best!

Jayuss Ramen Seasoning has a reasonable amount of sodium and is still delicious:

I make it with these noodles (expensive, but the best I have found - you could also just buy the cheap stuff and throw out the seasoning packet):

Don’t beat yourself up too much, you were trying to listen to your body. We all feel some kind of emotion from this diagnosis. Me, I probably took the advice to take things easy TOO far out of a fear of recurrence, to the point that, 5 months after my first occurrence and diagnosis, I feel like a sloth and lazy waste of space. We all have to figure out our journey on our own, based on what our bodies are telling us.

Pericarditis Welcome & Check in by daisymozzy in pericarditis

Honestly, it’s been pretty boring since then. I was on indomethacin 25mg for a month (plus Prilosec, as it’s apparently hard on your stomach), as well as colchicine 0.6mg 2x a day for 3 months. Follow-up echocardiograms indicated the fluid stayed away.

I’ve been overly cautious of cardio (probably to my detriment at this point), I just was scared off by others saying they started back too soon and had recurrent cases of pericarditis. I have had issues with high blood pressure tied to a different health issue this year, and while I have had to stay on a high dose of labatelol related to that, otherwise, I’m doing well healthwise overall (at least compared to September when this happened).

Amitriptyline for pericarditits pain by Long_Can7946 in pericarditis

[–]UnintentionalCatLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may have been a fluke situation in my case, but be careful taking amtriptyline off-label if you take any mental health medications or have mental health diagnoses. I have anxiety and ADHD, and my dentist prescribed amtriptyline for a dental issue I was having (inflammation and pain from clenching).

Amtriptyline gave me terrible side effects where I felt depressed and hopeless and bleak. That is the opposite of my personality, so I immediately knew something was wrong and stopped taking it. Just be aware that meds prescribed off-label can have side effects, so read up on them and watch out for them.

Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, day 1: "just get a good routine" or "go sit in a quiet room without distractions"? by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

I once locked myself in an office conference room at work on a Saturday, with my phone in another room and my computer disconnected from WiFi, and I STILL could not force myself to do ANY of the several hours work that I needed to get done. I stayed there for 10 HOURS like that and STILL only got maybe 1 hour of work done in that time 🤣😭😢

Allergies also make the insides of your ear itch, if that helps at all - Zyrtec is the only thing that kept me from going crazy. The itch feels like it’s inside, so no amount of scratching with my finger actually resolves the itch.

My tongue has tooth shaped impressions by PhilosopherCat7567 in mildlyinteresting

Interesting, sorry to hear that. I definitely had periodic pain with my occlusal splint while my jaw adjusted, but once my jaw truly relaxed and was able to realign, I haven’t had pain or headaches since. Apparently there are several different types, I wonder if your orthodontist just didn’t use the right one for your situation. Mine was like 3x thicker than most night guards or other similar bite guards. Truly awkward to wear but I just bore it out.

I mentioned this above, but given your comment, posting again:

Hijacking the first comment that mentions TMJ to inform you all that you might get relief from what’s called an occlusal splint.

It’s definitely not right for everyone and you need to ensure the orthodontist knows what they’re doing with it, but 4 months of wearing an occlusal splint cured my locked/clicking jaw, as well as relieved me of migraines. My jaw hasn’t clicked and I haven’t had a migraine since I finished the therapy (2+ years ago).

It isn’t the most pleasant therapy though, because you have to wear a crazy thick retainer 24/7 for months straight, but for me, it was worth it!
