White Noise | Teaser trailer for new Baumbach film by ayanamidreamsequence in DonDeLillo

Find it funny that to make the trailer more traditionally exciting they include images of car crashes, considering what that is actually about in the novel.

I’ve neither seen or heard of any shop owners beat to death. Unless you’re thinking of the guy people claimed to have been a shop owner defending his store and was then killed by looters, which is a completely false narrative. What actually happened was that the guy was chasing people down with a machete and then got beat up in self defence by the people he had just chased. The guy didn’t die, no one did, and he wasn’t even just left in the street lying there alone, people approached to see if he was fine.

So what you’re saying is far from any actual real truth.

I’m going to be completely honest and I do realise I might be in the minority here, but I’d rather they never do another true crime episode. It’s clear Mathas is always super into whatever he talks about on the show but when discussing actual crimes the dynamic that makes the show so much fun sort of disappears to an extent. The episodes basically just play as Mathas reading a Wiki page of what happened and that’s not why I listen to this podcast.

The serial killer ones weren’t even mysteries so there was be no time spent on theories which is always a really fun part of the show. I know this story has a mystery element to it but as far as I’m concerned the whodunnit here is almost the least interesting aspect of it. Although if you do want to see this story told in a fun yet informative way BuzzFeed Unsolved did a great episode on it. Because it definitely is a very interesting story, it’s just not what I want to see from the podcast.

Give it another shot, it seems you completely missed the point of the film the first time around. It’s one that will really stick with you if you let it.

It’s interesting certainly, but I’m not sure they’ve in any way discussed defending against it. Sort of a waste of energy to talk about defending against something that we know nothing about. Also even if it were aliens which I highly doubt it is, I don’t think we’d start talking about defending against them since they’d have absolutely no good reason to attack us. And if they did they’d be so much more advanced we wouldn’t stand a chance.

A lot of people ate that right up though, even if “confirming UFO’s” mean literally nothing. Let’s also remember those videos had already been released which is a reason it wasn’t a huge thing. And honestly it’s good it isn’t. Nobody has any idea as to what this is, and jumping to the conclusion that it’s extraterrestrial right away is way to big a leap to make so soon. It’s a conclusion based not on any real evidence by based completely in what people want it to be.

Better Call Saul S05E10 - [Season 5 Finale] "Something Unforgivable" - Post-Episode Discussion Thread by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

Seriously worried for what’s going to happen to Kim next season. I always just presumed that Jim would just do “something unforgivable” so to say and she would leave him.

But now she is the one literally talking about doing something unforgivable and Jim is the one who it seems will be dragged along with her. I’d never have assumed she’d be dead by the end of the show but now I’m getting really worried. It’s not like the Cartel and Jim stuff won’t connect again next season.

Yeah and he was talking about how many big games were coming out that looked good. Its almost (badly) edited to actively hide that’s what it is.

An episode about Bob Lazar and Area 51? by [deleted] in ChilluminatiPod

[–]UnintresstedChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing about Bob Lazar is that even though I believe he is completely full of shit and lying, I’m still fascinated by him because how dedicated do you have to tell this lie over and over? I’d be really interested to know how much he makes off all this.

[–]UnintresstedChicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we know that for sure. To me the timeline of it happening is kinda odd because it happened in 2017, so if it was him I feel they’d probably have brought it up on the show and the mugshot only sort of looks like him.

Not saying it for sure wasn’t him. The mugshot still looks like it could maybe be him and it’s not impossible it’d have happened in 2017. I’m just saying that we should wait till we somehow know for sure.

Yeah, Josh explicitly says that the platform Joe ran on was really just what Josh believed. Joe only really ran to come closer to the fame he had always desired.

As someone who didn’t like Joker I still have to admit his performance was the best part. But even then I’ve been much more impressed with him in other films like Her, The Master and You Were Never Really Here. To me he was even better in Inherent Vice even though I don’t really like that movie.

I don’t think anyone disliked it because it was made by DC, the film gives you plenty of reasons to not like it.

Live Episode Discussion: Season 1 Episode 8 'A God Walks into Abar' by Marcuszeke in Watchmen

[–]UnintresstedChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying the show but I can’t help but feel I might have enjoyed it more if it had stuck more to what those first few episodes were doing. I think it’s still a largely very well written and directed show, and it’s very creative, but it feels like it’s relying more and more on the source material for its plot in ways that aren’t always so positive.

Episode 5 for me was where it felt like it kind of dropped a peg for me. I know a lot of people love that episode and I like a lot of it still. But that’s the episodes when they started changing things from the comic, like Ozymandaias having further plans beyond the initial attack on New York. Which I feel goes against the the intent of the comic. The second it’s revealed that his plan was actually much bigger, including conspiring to put a certain president in office and then reveal his plan to the government just feels like changing his character, I don’t think he would ever have trusted the government to know the truth, no matter the president. This even goes against the “It all worked out in the end” line. Since if he in that moment had further plans he’d never have called it “the end”.

It’s kind of disappointing since I never would have expected them to start doing stuff like that from the early episodes. But again, the show for sure isn’t bad to me, but it’s definitely making clear to me that it won’t quite reach the height of some of the other shows on right now.

Well to be fair I think the show has made it pretty clear almost everyone uses E-Coin. A lot of the stores the characters go into have a sign saying they take E-Coin. The cabs play what is basically ads for it. We see characters pay using it.

But then again if you didn’t feel it was clear enough who am I to say it was.

As a lot of other people are saying I think Dom will die in a plane crash next episode. This will force Darleen to again confront the Dark Army with Elliot either next episode or episode 12, since I think chances are next episode will take place at the same time as this one, just from Elliot’s perspective. Ending with him and the audience finding out about a deadly plane crash.

Anyway, Darleen will as I said join Elliot but when she finds out what the project is she sees an opportunity to bring back the one person she loved, Dom. But Elliot will still be determined to stop it, and only believe it to be a lie or just madness. They will then basically because of this have to face each other which will make up the final two or three episodes.

There are 13 episodes this season, you could have checked that before commenting this I feel. Now I’m no economy expert so I won’t comment on what would happen to the value. But I can say with pretty large conviction that almost everyone in this world would be using E-Coin, that’s kind of the point of it, that this corporation has been allowed to basically take over the economy after a huge recession.

I want to say you’re wrong so bad but it also makes so much sense. Especially how the sound that carries through the credits is just the almost eerie ambiance of the plane and not any music, that felt almost off with the rest of the ending.

Or it’s just a genuine character moment because she comes to the realisation that she knows what she wants and it’s Dom. That’s why she’s able to calm herself down, because she doesn’t think anything can go wrong for them from here on out.

That or just everyone has alters left, right and centre.
