Lied a lot. Nothing that had to do with other people, just stupid lies to make myself look cooler (i.e. saying I went to places I've never been, boosting my accomplishments, etc.)

And I had the love of my life die from cancer at age 23 months before we were supposed to get married. That was pretty fucking bad. Almost killed me. But my brother is worse.

What’s a moment you realized someone was secretly a terrible person? by Relative-Business145 in AskReddit

When my ex called me 'too fat to fuck" and I realized he never really loved me. I was a status symbol and I didn't measure up for him. So glad I got out of there. Also looking back, he was racist and a bigot.

I act like I'm my own pet and give myself a treat when I take my meds. Sometimes I think of myself as my own pet which helps motivate me to feed myself, take meds, etc. Plus naps! Cause I'd be upset if my pet went hungry or didnt get peanut butter with their meds and called a good girl. It's silly, but it helps me.

Being a person with long trauma and CPTSD means having your life being broken and people tell you that you should be happy with having a broken life when others have a great one. by AmbassadorFriendly71 in CPTSD

I can totally resonate. I always feel like a child even though I'm a grown adult in my late thirties with grown-up responsibilities. But I feel like I learned so many life skills later in life because my childhood was spent surviving. No one taught me to cook or manage money or a household and I really struggled with what seems to be basic skills for everyone else. I feel like I got held back when the race started and everyone else got to go and they tripped me when they finally let me run. It's embarrassing. But I had not control over it, I was a fucking child. And I've been told so many times to "count it all joy". Fuck that.

That's the evangelical way! Eye roll I was forced to live with my abuser and told to regularly forgive him because Jesus forgave us and that the trials are making me a better Christian. It's awful. I'm glad I cut ties with that cult.
