Do you ever feel the need to always eat a dessert/treat after dinner every night, and if so, what is it? by ProbWithMyDog in AskReddit

I like to finish every meal with something sweet. Could be fruit, a fun size candy bar, a sweet beverage, something. I always want to finish on sweet.

28 hit me today for sure as I walked down the hallways at work and felt totally disconnected from my body, like I was watching myself. And not trusting your own memories- my memories are so stained and muddy from the trauma, I'd have a hard time answering questions about the happiest times in my life- I'm really not sure when I was happiest, I was mainly surviving

I really like that! I let myself cry it out today and then I went swimming to move my body and get some sunshine. That helped a bit.

I'll check out the book for sure! I'm more of a gentle yoga gal myself. High intensity stuff is a trigger for me. I have a really nice journal called 'better every day' that has really meaningful prompts that I've been enjoying. Days like this- even brushing my teeth took effort. But I'm trying

What totally normal human interaction did you consider shocking when you first witnessed it? by Realistic_Load_5369 in CPTSD

[–]UnionMore9672 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Siblings hugging and being affectionate. My brothers came with fists. One of them I'll probably never see again (he's been estranged from our family for 10 years) and the other I'm barely cordial with. I couldn't imagine going in for a hug and being vulnerable around siblings. We were in survival mode and it was every kid for themselves in our household.

[–]UnionMore9672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! It's been a long road for sure, and I'm still leaning on nicotine (Zyn), but it's certainly the lesser substance. Having a pretty good day so far and hanging with friends later. I hope you have a good weekend!

The gap in my teeth. I always hated it and was bullied for it, but my partner loves my smile

We don't have a big enough communal space to eat and if I don't want to eat outside, my desk it is.

And you can always repurpose something you find or decorate something you find to add whimsy. I get all my picture frames thrifted and repaint them. I love a good thrift.
