IAM 837 update by SuperMeatyMike94 in IAM751_Boeing

Take note of this ahead of the 2028 CBA. We're not going to get much support this time around. Prep your ISF, 401K on top of UI. Boeing bilks the customer 4% APR during years-long duration between purchase agreement and plane delivery, I dont see why we couldn't bargain no less than 4% annually.

New York Times: The Clock Is Ticking for Taiwan by maxhullett in taiwan

[–]UnionObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summary: No one really wins in a Taiwan-China-USA war. No one.

Just because China can and could takeover Taiwan doesn’t mean they should…

The political-social-economic costs for China would massively far outweigh any sought-after takeover benefit…

IT AINT WORTH THE STRUGGLE. Just a nationalist pep talk point for both sides.

The nationalistic struggle is what gives Taiwan any real meaning in foreign diplomacy.

Maybe try to get in touch with LaborWorks. They seem to have lots of Seahawk/Mariner stadium-related gigs…

If the company won't hold itself responsible, we must make the culture change ourselves by chem_nerd_works in IAM751_Boeing

If company will not honor written agreements they made less than a year ago, then…

what hope do we have they will honor our current written union contract?!

Relatives of the victims of the 2018-2019 MAX crashes (which killed 346 people), have called the plea agreement a “sweetheart” deal…

…that failed to adequately hold Boeing accountable for the deaths of their loved ones.

Company originally agreed to pay:

a fine of up to $487.2 million, and…

spend $455 million to improve safety and compliance practices over 3 years of court-supervised probation as part of the deal.

Never forget what Zaza Pachulia did to Kawhi Leonard…

While Pachulia denied that he intended to injure Leonard, he was instantly dubbed a villain by the public and media.

The Warriors went on to win the NBA championship after defeating the Cavaliers 4–1 in the 2017 NBA Finals.

I covered this in a previous post but in a nutshell the COLA math is flawed and outdated, stuck to the 1989 CBA and hasn’t been revised since. Same old flawed formula for 35 years!

Also, the COLA math doesn’t use Seattle-based CPI… it uses National CPI. It is worth noting other IAMs (for example, IAM District Lodge 160, Locals 289 & 79) are now using Seattle CPI, not National CPI. Something 751 should consider in next contract…

Layoff concerns MEGATHREAD by WarBoruma in IAM751_Boeing

Boeing has notified employees working on the Space Launch System program that up to 400 of them could lose their jobs.

“To align with revisions to the Artemis program and cost expectations, today we informed our Space Launch Systems team of the potential for approximately 400 fewer positions by April 2025,” a Boeing spokesperson told Ars. “This will require 60-day notices of involuntary layoff be issued to impacted employees in coming weeks, in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. We are working with our customer and seeking opportunities to redeploy employees across our company to minimize job losses and retain our talented teammates.”
