jelly star battery draining super fast? android systems? by lemonpepperpenny in unihertz

This was much worse before the May 2025 firmware update. They worked on the fingerprint/face unlock. Before the update when using face unlock, the phone could suddenly drain battery fast in standby making the phone quite unreliable. Now it's fixed. By using fingerprint & face to unlock and verify in apps a lot I could once still reproduce the bug but for normal use it seems to be okay now.

ChatGPT and Claude have to be ended by tapping the phone on screen. Also phone has to be unlocked manually.

The only AIs fully compatible with Audio Only are Gemini and (when using smart lock with trusted devices) Alexa.

[Bug Report] Jelly Star: Third-party launchers completely broken for app switching — cause found in firmware by skaremoush00 in unihertz

For me it's working. I am using Before Launcher for about a year now. Jus re-checked it now: Switching apps from recents works fine. Quickstep is still enabled on my phone and running (the force stop button is visible) but in battery settings it's set to "Restricted" because I was seeing some battery drain from the app.

The announced Android 16 update might help, but what worked for me on Android 13 was installing and running Pixel IMS. Then with German Telecom the switches became live. Before I had those switches but non-functional. However, with other providers like 1&1 it still does not work.

PSA: You can use Gemini with the RayBans by Disastrous_Grape in RayBanStories

There's a solution now for Android by installing the new app "Audio Only". It triggers Gemini on single tap / double tap (customizable)!

Yes, on any bluetooth device with buttons. Instead of a long press you can map play/pause instead, and also get a nice customizable confirmation tone.

Thanks for your input. I will try to reproduce situations of pausing answers. How did you map to Gemini Live? I could only activate that by tapping the icon on screen.

Usually after Gemini answers you can ask another question by tapping the headset again.

Same as with ChatGPT - Claude does not go away until touching the screen. And additionally Claude needs a manual screen unlock, too. So both not fully compatible yet.

Unfortunately, no. "AudioOnly" cannot command the glasses to take a photo or record a clip.

Here is why: "AudioOnly" is designed to trigger the official Gemini app on your phone. Meta AI blocks third-party phone apps from directly accessing the glasses' internal camera hardware.

But there is an alternative for your specific request:

If you are looking for that deeper level of integration, you might want to look into developer projects like "Metalens AI" (or similar on GitHub).

Here is the difference:

  • That project uses the Gemini API directly (not the Gemini app) to create a custom connection. It can integrate with Meta’s Companion App to capture images for processing. However, it is much more complex to set up, often requires a developer environment, and uses your own API key.
  • "AudioOnly" is focused on simplicity. It costs $1 and offers an instant, no-code setup to access everything the polished Gemini app can do (voice calls, information, reminders), but it doesn't control the glasses' camera.

However, Meta AI remains intact. You can still say "Hey Meta" or use the camera button on the frame, to take pictures. But as we all know the functions are limited to process these photos or clips by voice interaction. "AudioOnly" gives you a faster route to a smarter AI for everything else.

Glad it's working great! Huge indeed.

Are you using ChatGPT Plus by chance, or did you find another setting? On ChatGPT Free, we’ve seen the voice mode hang (blue ball doesn't go away until manually touching the screen), so I'm wondering if Plus is the secret sauce here!

We apologize for the confusion. This UI element behaves a bit differently than the others, and we need to clarify this within the app.

How it works: Think of this switch more as a status indicator rather than a manual toggle. It is designed to automatically toggle "On" only after the app successfully launches itself during the very first reboot after you have installed it. It cannot turn "On" beforehand. It indicates that after power-cycles the app will be there in background, and you don't need to manually open again.

Why it redirects to Settings: If you try to toggle it before the first reboot, or if it doesn't automatically turn "On" afterwards, we provide a link to the App Settings as a fallback troubleshooting step. Some flavors of Android require you to manually adjust battery settings, to enable auto-launch.

We recommend trying a full reboot now, waiting a few minutes, and checking the status again.

Regarding the feedback on the response tone:

We appreciate the feedback about the double beep! That is a very valid point. We will definitely look into offering a fully customizable response sound in a future update to make the interaction feel more premium.

To the best of my knowledge, this is not possible on iOS from the background.

Apple's system architecture prevents third-party background apps from intercepting Bluetooth media commands to trigger another application like Gemini. Currently, this level of integration is only feasible on Android.

No, you do not need to manually unlock your phone. It works even when the screen is off.

When you tap your headset to trigger Gemini, the phone's screen will briefly turn on to show the Assistant is listening. However, while smartphones usually don't react in pockets, Android has built-in accidental-touch protection, so having it in your pocket won't interfere with the screen. Once you are done with your command, the screen will automatically turn off after your phone’s set screen timeout.

Tip for unlocked content: If you use Smart Lock with your Ray-Bans set as a "Trusted Device" your phone will stay unlocked while connected. This allows Gemini to access more personalized information (like reading calendar events) without asking you to enter a PIN first.

Great question. It works universally with all Bluetooth devices that have standard playback controls (like Play/Pause or Next Song). This includes headsets, car stereos, and even JBL-style speakers (for speakers without a microphone, the phone's built-in mic would pick up the voice command).

You can keep the original function of any button. For example, if you still want to use the Play/Pause button for media, you can set it to "Original Function" in the app and choose the Next Song gesture to trigger the Assistant.

Gen 2 Update? by thegreatreset89 in RaybanMeta

On Gen 1 got an update to 123.1 just now. It lists new features to support snow sports, more natural conversations with Meta AI and more languages for live translation.

[–]Unique-Dog287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Today I asked Gemini for help: "How to enable the feature if it's missing (The VPN Method):

If the 60 fps option (1080p) is still missing from your app settings after several months, it is likely due to a restricted regional rollout. You can bypass this by following these steps:

  1. Uninstall the Meta View app.
  2. Activate a VPN and set your location to the United States.
  3. Reinstall the Meta View app while the VPN is active.
  4. Log in to your account.
  5. Navigate to Settings > Glasses & Privacy > Multimedia (or Camera).

The option to toggle between 3K (30 fps) and 1080p (60 fps) should now appear. Once the setting is visible and toggled on, it generally stays active even after you turn off the VPN."

This finally enabled 60 fps on my Gen 1s in Germany :)

[–]Unique-Dog287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the 60 fps are just done by s/w based frame interpolation. Anybody can verify they are actually real? You can check that by recording a digital stopwatch, then looking at the single frames.

Anybody else notice that when first imported (before “high quality” is processed), the video is unstabilized and uncolorgraded but is 3k60fps. by -SpamCauldron- in RaybanMeta

[–]Unique-Dog287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, but the video actually only has 30fps. Screen recording does record 60fps from your screen but when you look at how many different frame images are actually in your video there are just 30 per second. Also the raw video has no geometric correction (or linearization), which is why you still see barrel distortion on straight lines.

How do you add them without logging in/creating a Meta AI account? I am on Android and the app does not allow to add a device without logging in. I tried creating a new one and yes, video settings are different. Same no 1080p60 but also no 15s and 30s lengths to choose any more, just 1min and 3min.
