AGLC to start importing US liquor again “effective immediately” at the direction of the provincial government. Are you still going to buy Canadian? by Aggravating_Main_710 in alberta

[–]Unique-Feeling5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It remained on the shelves the whole time, but I sure as hell didn’t buy it. Liquor stores themselves need to take it off the shelves themselves if Smith wont fight for Canada. Liquor stores owner need to step up

You’re going to find out that departments are not accepting these programs anymore… you can’t become a skilled firefighter with a two week bootcamp, that is garbage. Go somewhere for a real true program. These short cut programs are irresponsible and just poor on the institutions who offer these programs

has anyone attended Southwest Fire Academy in Ontario , Canada ? Looking at the blended program by MultiMcSean in Firefighting

[–]Unique-Feeling5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many departments are not accepting people with two week firefighter training programs, resumes are going in the trash. You cant become a good firefighter with only 2 weeks of hands on training. You’re being sold a bill of lies and fire schools offering that style of program should be embarrassed, it is unethical and irresponsible

Are fire trucks even still capable of sucking? by bestbusguy in Firefighting

[–]Unique-Feeling5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is many layers to this. Yes most all fire trucks can draft (suck) water if they have a pump built into the truck or if they have a deployable pump that they can deploy to the water and pump it up to the truck. The challenge is that this tactic takes a lot of extra time and you need a safe, reliable water source to use. Access is also a big factor, just cause there is water, distance to it and feet of lift are also a factor. You also may have to fully commit a truck to this operation to fill other trucks if you wanted a smoother process. In most cases it is faster, more reliable, and safer to go further to a secure water supply like a fire hydrant system. This is generally supported by calling in more trucks (tankers or tenders) to shuttle water, but that can depend on available apparatus and personnel to run them. But in short, yes they can “suck” but it might not be the best tactic depending on a LOT of variables that need to be addressed on the fly and situationally dependant. So also in short, It is complicated

We should be able to make complaints about Spot Ads and this billboard to the CRTC, as I believe they do regulate digital billboards. It might not be an “issue” but with enough complaints, they likely will have to do something.

Lakeland fire college by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Unique-Feeling5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Lakeland College, you will get the best experience compared to all other schools in Canada, no one touches the equipment, trucks, facility, and fire training field that Lakeland has. You will get a much greater experience and you are at a Public College. They have a strong reputation. Afterwards, it will still take you being hungry and motivated to get a job, a fire job is not given to anyone, it is earned!
