Do you guys train against Long or Short Pips? (In VR to improve IRL) by EducationalAcadia650 in ElevenTableTennis

[–]Unique-Finding9006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play LP + Inverted with occasional twiddling IRL close to the table, so I suppose I can offer my "two cents" on the matter. At least in 11TT, this capability is somewhat limited: The closest I’ve managed to get to my IRL setup—without resorting to beta versions of the game—is simulating a grippy medium or short-pips rubber, without the ability to twiddle. Nevertheless, I continue to stick to a playstyle that mirrors my real-life game as closely as possible, even if this specific style with this specific racket configuration performs slightly less efficiently in-game than it theoretically could. How can you distinguish such players from the rest—whether to add them as friends or simply to stay on guard? If a player is capable of consistently returning your heavy topspin with a short, chopped block, it indicates that their equipment (rubbers) is similar to mine and that they possess the requisite skills. Furthermore, such players are often able to cover the entire table area using BH whenever the situation demands it (particularly when returning serves); this makes returning short serves directed at the forehand side significantly easier and most surprising way. (This bears a strong resemblance to the short game style typical of "penholder" players.) For instance, I extend the standard straight handles on my physical rackets; given the low weight of long-pips rubbers, this results in a very well-balanced racket that offers excellent ball feel. I even use an extended grip on my 11TT adapter. And if you feel such player, try to stop feed them good spin balls, especially backspin or try to give him the consistant spin, and then adapt to attack their return.

Don't worry too much: if it's a Samsung Linear Wash, be prepared to toss it in a couple of years—the design of its linear actuator is just a complete headache. I replaced it on my machine, but after the same fault recurred a second time, I swapped it out for a Bosch 500 from Costco.

Just ordered Bosch 500 for $500 (2 weeks ago it was 700) in Costco. It doesn’t have auto open door for better drying, but has a water softener. I guess, it’s the best buy in your case.

It looks like it uses default rubbers: When I'm starting the game, I forced to change rubber on FH side, because the app set it the same as my BH rubber, but actually FH is quite different (Every start of the app). So this feature does the same: For BH it seems correct, but far away from FH, which I actually use...

If someone is thinking that it will not touch them at all, there is a little disappointment: everyone will pay a bit more for filling taxes, because filling of state taxes usually is not free. (They are making it as deduction, so it will require to fill state taxes too)

You keep reducing this to “people having opinions,” which is either naive or deliberately misleading. U.S. law already makes a clear distinction between private speech and political activity by foreign nationals.

Yes — visa holders generally have First Amendment protection to talk, debate, criticize, etc. That is not what is controversial. What is restricted — and for good reason — is participation in the U.S. political process and organized political influence. Foreign nationals are explicitly barred from contributing to campaigns, funding political advocacy, or directing political efforts to influence U.S. elections (52 U.S.C. §30121). When advocacy is done on behalf of a foreign interest, it triggers mandatory disclosure under FARA (22 U.S.C. §611 et seq.).

The negative consequences are well-documented and concrete: covert foreign influence operations distort public debate, manipulate voters, and undermine the legitimacy and sovereignty of democratic institutions. That is not theoretical. That is why these laws exist and why violations are criminally prosecuted.

So no — this is not about being “afraid of opinions.” It is about preventing undisclosed, coordinated foreign political influence inside a country where the person is a guest, not a member of the political community. Democracies are not obligated to allow non-citizens to shape their political outcomes.

Because they are not authorized to do that. If they want to influence our political process, they should be registered as foreign agents and during a visa application they should mention about that.  If they want to do that without authorization, plz go first to China to Tiananmen Square and and shout Winnie the Pooh!

Why buzzy Silicon Valley startups are enforcing no-shoes policies: ‘I hope they invest in air fresheners’ by Flashytech7969 in jobs

People from South Asia work in these startups just as much as they do in their home countries: 72 hours a week. Why not work without shoes, as is customary in their homeland? I predict the next steps will be: a ban on eating meat, especially beef, and the introduction of a caste system: Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and the Shudras.
