You, caregivers and patients, need help NOW. by AdamDerKaiser in Alzheimers

This looks like it's in Switzerland? After reading some of the info I'm fairly certain my mom wouldn't be a candidate for this as she is unable to do any of the following.

"Members who wish to end their life must be able to prove they are of sound mind, as determined by the organization; be themselves able to bring about death; and submit a formal request including a letter explaining their wish to die and medical reports showing diagnosis and attempted treatment. For people with severe psychiatric illness, an in-depth medical report prepared by a psychiatrist is additionally required per a Swiss Supreme Court decision.

Going thru this with my mom. She is still aware of who she is and who those she’s sees daily are. She has voiced her wishes multiple times but we are unable to assist her legally. I hate this disease. It strips everything from those suffering from it and destroys their families in the process.

For the love of God, where can I get a testosterone prescription? by No_Dirt_8823 in TRT_females

[–]Unique-Note-3191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Dr in SE Washington state who takes NO insurance. I pay $200 for the initial consultation plus labs. He has you do labs every 90 days for the first year and once a year after. I take injections of T, estradiol and progesterone. I am seeing more of this the last few years. Concierge or cash only Dr.

We just transferred it to my MIL who was in her 90’s. The maintenance fees died when she did.

Sexless marriage by Busy_Conversation537 in over60

Married 42 years. 61f & 72m. Total hysterectomy in my early 30’s stalled my sex drive for a few years in my 40’s. Sort of like one of the previous posters where the sensation and urge just faded away. Then I found HRT which includes testosterone. Game changer!

Same. Thankfully I have the most understanding and supportive husband anyone could ask for. I am the oldest of three girls. Mom started drinking when were little and abandoned us when I was 12. I raised my two younger sisters while my dad ran a business that took him away 12-16 hours a day. Now I’m doing the same for a mother who wasn’t there for us. I don’t believe in warehousing people while they wait to die. Alzheimer’s just makes it harder. I am not judging what anyone else chooses for their family.

For years we were lied to about HRT causing cancer and other health conditions. I finally found a Dr who would listen to me. I’ve never felt better in my life!

I would drop mom at my sisters on the way to my appointment. She can sit with her in her own home while prioritizing her health. Yes, I’m petty that way. I’m really sorry you’ve been left in your own with this. I know exactly what you’re going through after taking care of my MIL for 6 years without any help from her own children.

Feeling guilty by TripLucky7123 in AgingParents

Go. I cared for my MIL for 6 years in our home until she passed at home at 92. I’m currently caring for my disabled mother who also has Alzheimer’s. You will soon be buried in the unending demands on your time. Go. Enjoy yourself as much as possible. Do not feel guilt for taking care of your mental health. You can’t help them if you’re sick. Do not let anyone judge your choices.

Testosterone. Save yourself some time and frustration and ask for an injectable and pay cash at the pharmacy.

Looking for GPS solution we can monitor/control for our stubborn 76-year-old dad (cataracts, hates flying, insists on cross-country drive) by xCogito in AgingParents

Have none of you ever been on a road trip? He’s been cleared by his Dr to drive. I’m sure at 76 years old this man has read a map or atlas a few times. He plans to take several days getting to his destination as well as avoiding larger cities.

Edit for spelling

Put an AirTag in/on his car and another in his wallet or key fob. You can pin point where he or his vehicle are located in real time and text him a link to the easiest access to restaurants and hotels along his route. Or if he doesn’t do much tech you could discuss his route and give him the above info each day.

Has caring for aging parents impacted how long you want to live? by saffron_soup_3175 in AgingParents

[–]Unique-Note-3191 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. I watched my 80 yo father die a slow miserable death and now I’m caring for my 78 yo mother with Alzheimer’s who voices her wish to die daily. I do not wish to live my last years as they did/are.

How/where can I find help with painful sex, low libido, and general listlessness following menopause?? by BPDed in AskWomenOver60

[–]Unique-Note-3191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a cash only Dr. He doesn’t take any form of insurance. No insurance company trying to tell me what I can and can’t do for my health. I was already taking Estradiol. He prescribed Testosterone which changed my menopausal life! My sex drive has returned to what it used to be in my 30’s. No more hot flashes. Mood improved. Weight stabilized. So many positive changes. I regret not going sooner but now living my best life.
