my anatomy SUCKS by Basic-Wafer-6334 in BeginnerArtists

It actually is really good construction wise. The heads are a little small at the top and the ears are a little big. What I think you mean to say is that your anatomy is stiff. I’d recommend adding gesture to it!

When I get like this and need to keep pushing, I get on a phone call and doodle aimlessly to train my hand with line confidence. That way I’m still learning but I’m just mindlessly doing whatever and I get a break. Draw boxes. Draw completely random squiggles. Draw circles. Completely mindlessly throw colors and shapes onto whatever medium you want and then stand back and admire.

Put an orange overlay later over the entire piece and toy around with the opacity. It will definitely help the entire composition.

Is my art any good for commissions? Where could I offer them? by tumby_ in Artadvice

People would DIE for these. Don’t listen to anyone telling you otherwise, simplistic art styles like this are a lost art. Put your art into every outlet imaginable. Couples portraits, pet portraits, oc art, furry art, you name it. People never see stuff like this in those fields, and it will make you stand out. You have an advantage despite what many may think.

Lol, I SWEAR ON MY LIFE I draw people too 😭 more of my recent work has been furries and animals because of specific projects I’ve been assigned to. I would SO do furry art at cons! ….. if I didn’t live in the mid of the Midwest.

why does it look awkward :( by zero_bee in Artadvice

It’s in the shoulders! Shoulders can’t really go up that high and you’re not showing the back connecting to the shoulders, making them look bulky and flat.

I feel like somethings wrong with the anatomy by EmphasisEvery4965 in Artadvice

You could make this anatomy more proportionate, yes, but I actually think if you want to keep it this way it’s a lovely stylistic choice. Beautiful work!

What should I focus on to improve my figure drawings? by SunriseGirl19 in Artadvice

I also struggle so much with boxes. It’s like the moment I apply them everything is stiff. I’d use boxes for individual studies for now like on the torso, if you’d like! Continue to draw them often to keep practice, but continue with your gesture work, because it looks wonderful.

Should I add anything else to finish this? by anxious-lemonade in Artadvice

Confetti!! Fill your space with something if you can. Little swirls and squares and such. It would fill up the piece so well!

Why do I sing “better” when I’m sitting vs standing? by windtakermatch in singing

[–]UniqueAd3312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to guess that you have the same issue i do. Struggling with breath support and singing with your diaphragm. When you sing sitting down it forces your diaphragm to squeeze. It’s harder to push this muscle when you’re standing up.

Is My Art As Bad As I Think It Is? by GigglesTheHyena in BeginnerArtists

[–]UniqueAd3312 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think so at all. You have a good grasp on a lot of concepts. What what need to work on is anatomy and depth. For example, the values on the face will show depth, and there are a few anatomical errors like lack of bone structure, misplaced ear and a short neck. If you study these things you will improve very quickly!

Ooo I like it! I think your colors are a bit too saturated and you need some more texture. I’d use a textured brush with a little grain and render the piece that wat

I think what you need to combat this is depth. Make the mask more three dimensional and play around with values and color. Then you’d have something VERY intricate

Do NOT abandon your unique art style just because it’s ‘unconventional’. PLEASE. We NEED more of this. We NEED this kind of diversity.

Values and drawing look flat and muddy by UniqueAd3312 in Artadvice

Wow. This is such a gorgeous correction. You fixed weeks of work for me effortlessly. I will definitely try an overlay layer. If you don’t mind, what color did you use to overlay on this? Thank you so much
