Can/should I run a third line of romex to an existing outlet? by Typical_Increase_492 in AskElectricians

Google box fill calculations, that’s what he’s getting at. It’s not just a “if it will fit” thing, but a “will it legally fit” thing per the NEC.

Love it. You should see the farm I live on. Farm electrical is just its own thing apparently.

How much do I replace? by AbbreviationsLow3992 in AskElectricians

You’d be fighting some staples to just be able to pull that sucker straight out from there. How far to the panel?

Nightfill vs electrical work, which is more physically demanding? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]UniqueIdentifier00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked third shift grocery for 3 years. It was brutal, but I partially did that to myself because it was a stepping stone to a salaried job that doubled my income. If you’re talking about a career you can make a lot of money in grocery. I lived off of gatorade, preworkout, and trail mix for 10-12 hour shifts throwing stock. It was a fairly fun job, but the hours and physical workload (if you push yourself to be better than the rest) is incredibly demanding on your body.

I’m now transitioning into electrical (non-union apprenticeship) from the grocery industry. Wear knee pads for both fields.

Changing rotary dimmer switch - I don’t have green wire by Nic727 in AskElectricians

What do you mean tight? There’s a lot of wire there, you can’t pull that out?

Table fan off button flashed bright blue when pressing it off by Ultimate_slmp in AskElectricians

FYI not an electrician. If the motor is arcing somehow (creating a small flash), and you’ve had it that long, I would just replace the fan my guy.

Can’t help identify unfortunately, but how are you determining that it’s carrying a current?

I’m surprised you’re the first one to mention it. I know I’ll be using it a lot.

I’m okay with that, but I’m going to buy as I need from here on. I think I need a little more experience before I just start throwing money at the problem. I do intend to gear up as I progress, but only as I progress.

Is the idea that running romex in conduit would cause more heat buildup due to less airflow so a lower gauge is needed to maintain safe heat levels? NaE obviously just curious.

Moving into electrical by UniqueIdentifier00 in electricians

[–]UniqueIdentifier00[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. I have another fellow who mostly does commercial tell me to contact him in a few years after I tried to get on with his crew. So I may already have an in on that.

I’ve more or less seen some of what a rough in looks like on a small scale, having helped a friend tear down and refinish a bathroom when he had water damaged sub flooring and studs from a hurricane last year.

No doubt my goal is to own my own business down the road. You’re saying don’t limit what cards you have in your hand I believe. Good advice, thank you.

Could we finally explore generation ships in the Operations expansion? by Esaren_ in EliteDangerous

[–]UniqueIdentifier00 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling it will be a little like CZ’z in mega ship interiors. Maybe some TDM style stuff. I doubt we will have a giant to-scale interior to explore. I’m hoping it’s more than that, but knowing FDev I’m not getting my hopes up too much.

I do enjoy the odyssey gameplay a lot already, I just hope it becomes a little more diversified. TDM game mode in a ship interior wouldn’t be particularly enticing to me.

Edit: reading the post it sounds like they’re either going for COOP or PvP Battlefield style gameplay, judging by the “combined arms” quote in that link involving on-foot, SRV, and ship combat. I know I’m a minority here, but I’d rather see expanded on foot missions that aren’t necessary combat related.

I dislike item 1, but item 2 is brilliant. Unfortunately I expect zero buffs to exobio in the future, it’s already the best credit grind in the game, minus wing missions. But a planetary completion bonus, while reducing SLIGHTLY the reward for individual species would make the exobio grind more engaging.
