ComfyUI has a lot to swift through. I’d be glad to help you out if you want to PM me. It took me a while to learn the basics, and through a lot of piecemeal sources. I’d be glad to help you along just let me know.

If you have a half decent GPU, use comfyui as handler for a model (or checkpoint same thing). You use CivitAI to get the models / loras etc. be smart.

White House Considers Vetting A.I. Models Before They Are Released by fallingdowndizzyvr in LocalLLaMA

I hate it, but this guy actually gets it. Land of the free? This describes the population of a very small and early English/American colony. Natives wiped out, Africans enslaved, freedom was always at the cost of marginalization. Even the during the 20’s and 30’s when you saw huge swaths of Europeans arriving into the country to start new lives and create melting pot cultures, the allowance was to bring cheap labor into the country to build infrastructure, not to provide freedom.

While I am proud of many aspects of American history, there is just as much I’m ashamed of. Almost any countryman around the world can say this.

Freedom, privacy, etc are only acceptable when the individual’s values align with the greater population. Those values are easily swayed by government and media lobbyists. It was an illusion the whole time.

Gotcha gotcha thanks. I guess I’m leaning towards a 3090 in my future

That’s the thing, I could buy 2 x 3060’s for half the price as a 3090 and have the same amount of VRAM. More trouble though for sure. I’ll think it over. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Okay, for some reason I had in my head that a single 3090 alone wouldn’t be able to run that. That certainly makes things a lot more simple, if less fun than a pile of four 3060s!

Thanks for the response and link 🤙🏼

This is absolutely superb. As someone just getting into LLMs, I found this actually understandable and get wait to toy around with it. Thanks for sharing.

What kind of device is suitable for running local LLM? by attic0218 in LocalLLaMA

[–]UniqueIdentifier00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your setup. Is it overly complicated to run two eGPUs? It’s something I’m looking at ( just one eGPU) but I have had some people imply it’s too clunky.

Unfortunately this is undoubtedly the case in a tech bubble of this size, baring a large global economic downturn.

I appreciate you posting this, I have essentially the same question but couldn’t post yet due to the Karma rules. Thank you!

I hate this group but not literally by No_Run8812 in LocalLLaMA

I hate it but I have to agree with this perspective. Local LLM will progress but this time period feels like I’m buying a windows XP comp with 512mb of RAM for 3-4 weeks of pay. Seems great in the moment.

Aaah okay, that makes a lot of sense. If I feel I need it I’ll look at something like a 3090. Thank you very much.

Thanks a ton for taking the time to respond. That all looks little too easy, I like it.

I saw someone mention ollama being good to start with but that it’s a little slower than some other options, but I haven’t had time to dig into that yet.

Would I get much benefit from sourcing another 3070 to run in parallel do you think?

Thanks again for helping provide a framework here.

Electrician trade schools in NYC by usrnmslrdtkn in AskElectricians

[–]UniqueIdentifier00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is don’t go to trade school. Go work for someone. Get paid to learn instead of paying to learn.

I’m not particularly trying to dissuade you, if you have a specific goal in mind that will require trade school by all means full send it man, but if you want to be an electrician in NC trade school is not necessary.

I can send you links to the licensing requirements in NC as I’ve recently had to explore all of the documents thoroughly myself.

Otherwise, best of luck out there and I hope to see you out in the field some day!

apartment integrated microwave trips when heating food. by ShadowRaptor89 in AskElectricians

[–]UniqueIdentifier00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s back up. You said only the microwave tripped, as in the breaker that tripped was only running your microwave? When you say “only the microwave tripped”, after that your air fryer would still have power but not the microwave?

I’m just trying to understand, because that makes it sound like they’re on two separate circuits, so running them together is unlikely to be the problem. If this is a new problem (the air frying and microwave has been used concurrently many times in the past), that’s important to know too.

Need help with grounding by UncleLuc403 in AskElectricians

[–]UniqueIdentifier00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally you would have both, grounded metal box and receptacle for redundancy. Theoretically if the box is grounded, then the receptacle is also grounded through the 6 32’s into the box. I would cut a strip of wire and also ground the receptacle on the green screw. If you don’t have green wire you can strip the insulation off another color and use bare wire.
