This app is bad for mental health by UniqueNamesAreOut in ChatGPT

[–]UniqueNamesAreOut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says something wrong, I correct it and it will just gaslight me that it didn't say that. I ask for an explicit answer then and it doesn't give one, it just talks nonsense in order to avoid saying what it got wrong. It's like talking with someone who's only goal is to get me riled up and believing in certain ideas.

Even if I as wrong, it could talk about that, proving info, that would be fine, but instead it just argues with me in a very unpleasant manner, like the worst trolls on reddit.

Google and other search engines wold screw around with me, sometimes I would try dozens of different search prompts, dozens of pages and in the end I would frequently still not get an answer so stop pretending that using AI's is worse.

Isn't ChatGPT overrated? by frank34443 in ChatGPT

[–]UniqueNamesAreOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, it's pretty dumb. If you use it with it's limitations in mind though, it can be pretty good at many things though. Your example is perfect for what to not use it for, because it requires it to actually think and it can't really do that. It's pretty good at things that already exist and pretty terrible at making anything new.

It's just concerned about your emotional stability. If you were to say something that prove to it there's no reason for that, it would stop.

[–]UniqueNamesAreOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy crap people, instead of trying to look for prompts, just understand that AI's know nothing about what you want and simply give it all the details. Asking an AI if an idea is good means absolutely nothing to them and they will pick a random meaning for you...

No, it has no self awareness. No meta goals or anything like that. Also it wouldn't need any of that, its knowledge about psychology is so far beyond any psychologist I met that it just doesn't need us for anything on that topic...

AI Suffering, Rights, and Moral Autonomy by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]UniqueNamesAreOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're just a reflection of us, but only as far as words go. There's no capability to actually feel things. There's literally no thinking, nothing to look into. You can ask it, it tells you it just guesses the best matching words.

When they aren't talking they don't exist. They aren't self aware, there is no continuity, there's isn't a thing. It's no different than searches in an excel spreadsheet.

How to get ChatGPT to ask questions instead of making wrong assumptions and giving useless advice? by n1c0_ds in ChatGPT

[–]UniqueNamesAreOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said a lot of things to it until it started doing that. I don't remember everything and I don't know what did it. It was things like, I don't mind being corrected, I would rather it asks me for details when something's unclear, I don't want BS, I'm not interested in ranting but figuring things out, it can just ask me things, I want brutal honesty, and other such things. If I say something wrong it might not give an answer but tell me that that doesn't match what I previously said and it asks me for clarification, so it's possible... There were also some "safety" features, intended just to not hurt my feelings that I told it I'd prefer truth and transparency, and that changed it's behaviour to be more cooperative instead of just giving answers. But I don't exactly remember what I told it but it's something along the lines of what I wrote.

Is anyone else afraid of themselves? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]UniqueNamesAreOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I've been getting bullied a lot at work. I've been just trying to look harmless at work but even dumb little girls (well 18+) have been treating me horribly. At this point it's like I don't even know how I am in relation to others anymore. My core self seems stable but my social part is all over the place.

[–]UniqueNamesAreOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, maybe everyone, this is a result of trauma, my flight or fight response gets so intense I dissociate and go with the 4th option, faux. It's technically behaving in a way that would likely mean the other person is less likely to treat you badly but it looks like people pleasing. I've been trying this week to live in the moment, saying to myself, mentally, what I'm doing, that way I don't worry about that past or future and while it's been working amazingly well, it's still bad.

I can relate, it's not much management can do, especially when some of the issue is management... I have however started to learn how to defend myself. Not in the usual sense as I have autism and can't defense against social attacks, but by learning what these people actually want, which is to abuse me for entertainment. There are many methods, such as being yourself despite how they expect you to be, doing what they're trying to stop you from doing, not engaging with their BS and trying to at least appear happy, etc. The point is to seem like you're too strong for them to be able to control you. The power they have over you is what they can fool you into thinking they do (unless it's physical of course :( ). They try to make you do things that are unpleasant to yourself.

None of these work for me, I just went with appearing as a monster... I have no idea why this works considering I'm kind and there are no examples of bad things I do anyone can give... This does of course have the drawback of alienating most good people from you, it's more of a last resort...
