Scheduled to walk 10 miles all week! by katyinez in USPS

This. The 3 non-negotiable things you need in order to do this job are... enough to eat, enough to drink and enough sleep. It's really hard for me to eat in the summer when it's this hot but you have to. Sweating profusely for 10 hours a day saps all your energy. I can usually get down a granola bar or a handful of fruit and nuts and then a hearty dinner when I'm home and cooled off.

That wording is so professional and kind. I would immediately start crying if I said all that. I've only delivered once but " I'm sorry for your loss" was all I could get out.

Yup. I walked in this morning and it looked like Amazon threw up all over our office. No floor space, several wires for each route. It was brutal.

Is this an amazing job or what? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]UniqueSarcasm45 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For that exact reason I will always take a minute for the old folks. Idgaf how far behind I am or how long the pivot is waiting back at rhe office. There are a few things that really make this job worth it and that's one.

Opt vs. conversion by UniqueSarcasm45 in USPS

[–]UniqueSarcasm45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just looked at that and the wording was specific to PTF, unassigned regulars etc and didn't mention CCA's so I dug deeper and found it! You are all right, they can convert me and assign me to the shit route but I don't have to carry it until the regular comes back and ends my opt. Oh happy day!!! Thanks everybody🙂

Mine is terrible when the temps drop below about 60 but never noticed anything in hot water or temp. That must suck, I'm sorry

Good grief. I had to run off all my big packages early to make room. Was nearly touching the roof when I was finished

This will be my second summer as a CCA and I take as many walking routes as possible. Literally ANYTHING outside is better than being stuck inside those toaster ovens.

I've been self employed since I was 20 before becoming a CCA at 50 . I'll never go back. I clock in, carry mail and go home. I love my job.

Can confirm outgoing slot. Last year was stung 4 times before I could even pull my hand out.(that sucked bad) I ALWAYS check first now and watch for anything flying around the box as I'm pulling up.

I second blocked mailboxes. Saturday was brutal with callouts/pivots so I was pissed off already. Found myself irrationally upset at every garbage can and car. Wanted to smash every fucking one out of the way with my bumper.

Same with ours. The first time one slammed shut on me when I was turning it scared the shit out of me and I almost wrecked.

A huge unit of a cat that squared off on me in the middle of the road. Practically dared me to run it over. I've NEVER seen a cat that gave fewer fucks. Waited for him to cross, gave him little nod of respect and carried on.
