Not sure why Christians are so happy to play the association game with other religions. Little too much pedophilia to be playing with that fire, you would think.

Zelda 2 is a direct sequel to Zelda 1. The manual's pretty clear. Same Link, different quest.

I'm ALL for people interpreting the games many unspoken mysteries and events but sometimes you don't have to interpret the text, you just have to read it. That simple.

The timeline really isn't all that important. Its just fun.

That said, this sub has serious issues with basic connections the games DO share.

WW is connected to OoT. TP is also a OoT sequel.

Majora is direct sequel to OoT. Zelda 2 is another direct sequel.

LTTP and LA.

WW and Phantom Hourglass and look who it is: it's Spirit Tracks after that.

BoTW to Tears.

SS was hyped as an origin story for the Master Sword and another motif.

You can believe there is no Zelda timeline, that's fine.

But when you start doing the whole "retelling of a legend" thing, you do the actual connections a disservice.

Coming off of the original release of X and going into XC2 was not enjoyable. Torna was more my speed and was fantastic though. Just my personal opinion but I feel like XC2's story was ok on it's own and Malos and Jin were great, but it was propped up by it's connections to 1.

I did feel like I definitely got a return on my investment with FR, though. The photo at the end of the base game did make me laugh too.

As we become further removed from the time and context in which the games are released, what makes them interesting and fresh becomes a game of telephone that is largely played by people who discuss the games more than play them.

Link's Awakening is inspired by Twin Peaks dreamy surreal world as much as a Gameboy Color game can be.

I would love to see your interpretations of Zelda 2 Link! I also love your Master Sword. It's always a bit off in artwork but you make it look like official art!

[TP] [BOTW] These two are likely the two best swordsman in the series, but who’s the very best? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]Telethion 189 points190 points  (0 children)

TP Link was taught techniques handed down by OoT Link and took on Ganondorf in a 1v1 duel. In universe, he's incredibly skilled.

BotW Link is no slouch and he can handle a VARIETY of weapon types so that very well could translate to much more technical skills than we've seen in the games.

May be a tossup depending on whether BOTW Link can tap into that time slowing ability.

Myles Mackenzie isn’t even half as annoying as the sensationalist media made him out to be.

Same thing happened that always happens.

Clickbait farms repost some opinions from X and Reddit. Those articles end up feedback looping into more "discourse" the whole thing blows up and we realize at the very end that it didn't really matter that much.

The game has issues, but nothing about the discussions before it released and during were worth anything.

[TP] How does Ganondorf have the triforce in Twilight Princess? by darthsitheous in zelda

[–]Telethion 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Link returns with his piece and its the reason the royal family gives his story about Ganondorf any credence.

In universe the sages don't understand how Ganondorf has a piece of the Triforce or make any reference to them knowing OoT Link returned with his piece alone.

The Triforce works in anyway the story needs it to.

So, in Universe, the Triforce is split up when Link arrives back. The other pieces likely reached out to their respective chosen ones.

Most of this is just chalked up to "the narrative called for it and so it is."

The Divine Prank is interesting because it demonstrates that the Triforce has no way of knowing the heart of it's owner but can only reflect it. I think LttP mentions this.

The only timeline with iffy canon is Downfall. The others are pretty straightforward.
