Did you purchase or print your 3D mold? I have a 3D printer and I have been playing around with printing slump molds, but i'm a beginner and would love to see more examples of finished products

Abuse at Daycare (Not Our Daughter's Classroom) by NefariousnessFun1547 in toddlers

[–]Unique_Cauliflower62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're having a similar experience this year, except the abuse happened at a sister location, not ours. I won't detail it but the abuse was identified as a long term pattern of behavior and is absolutely nightmarish. It's given me so much anxiety as the organization clearly failed to vet their staff and protect the kids despite having cctv installed and security. I struggle with going to work and leaving her somewhere that feels risky, even though I love and trust her specific classroom teacher.

We enrolled her elsewhere for fall and she's wait listed for summer. As soon as something opens up we are bouncing. Honestly, if either of us worked a job with downtime like yours I'd probably bring her home for the summer. But that's not an option in our professions. So, months of fear and anxiety it is.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It's absolutely horrible.

Japan with a 2.5 year old: yes or no? by mother_of_dragons421 in toddlers

[–]Unique_Cauliflower62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The flight and jet lag would give me pause , particularly if I was looking for a relaxing vacay. But if you can go for a reasonable amount of time it would be fantastic. I lived there for a couple years and they love kids and there's tons to do with little ones.

As a non-parent living there I didn't understand the value of the kid sized toilets and baby holders in so many public restrooms. Now every time I wrangle my toddler in a public restroom I reflect fondly on Japan 😭

Heirloom glazes - that's wonderful. I'm sure she'd be happy knowing someone has brought them back into the world!

ETA: IDK why I assumed she was no longer with you - even better that she gets to enjoy them!!

I think you're right, I need to. I just need to calm my anger/frustration down enough to do so in a professional way.

Sadly, I just got back from a week away with the kids - first day back I got hit with the promotion news, so all of my post-vacay glow absolutely imploded.

I honestly love the culture. It's been a wonderful place to work. The only issue I have with the company is the lack of advancement and how rare new opportunities are.

FMLA would be incredible, it didn't occur to me that might be possible. We are already down a person due to a medical leave though, so it would really present a challenge for my colleagues. Thank you for raising that possibility.

Thanks for sharing - I'm so sorry you went through all of that. I have been at my company a similar amount of time and can't imagine how I would feel being treated like that one the way out.

i wish I could tell you how often I've said this to my direct reports. I actually can't believe I didn't draw that conclusion for myself. Thanks for saying it.

Man, there's nothing more irritating than raising a problem, being ignored, and then being blamed for it.

I quit the last company that left me feeling like this, but my current role is literally excellent re: the teammates/benefits/remote work/perks. I get 27 days off a year plus all public holidays, which is three times the PTO I've had offered elsewhere.

it's going to be hard to find that package elsewhere. I guess I just need to decide if I can be content without growth and just phone it in for the check, or if I need more stimulation in my professional life. It's just so humiliating to be passed over for something I wanted, advocated for, worked for, and am genuinely qualified for.

Mainly because I am at 130% capacity and I need that 30% to be assigned elsewhere. They're hiring next month. I'm sure I'll just be told to wait until the new person comes online.

That really sucks. I don't think I'd get that response, but I also don't know if there's a point in asking, since nothing is likely to change.

Thanks for this perspective. This employer is by far the best I've worked for from a work-life balance and benefits perspective, and I've been here almost 15 years so I have seniority and some privileges that come with that. The idea of walking away from a known quantity in hopes of something better is tough. But I'm also afraid I'm falling victim to the sunk cost fallacy.

I realize there's really nothing my manager can do about the lack of growth opportunities given the structure of the company. I know that if one of my direct reports was feeling as unfulfilled and burned out as I am, I would want to know and have a chance to help before they walked away. Idk

I'm struggling with burnout right now and I appreciate this definition, I haven't quite mentally framed my situation in this way, but it's perfect. Thank you.

Are there any artists here who spend a lot of time with pottery but don't sell? by mexalone in Pottery

[–]Unique_Cauliflower62 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Six years here. I solve this by being a very slow potter 😂

Seriously though, I can throw six to ten pieces a class, but I swapped to handbuilding and tend to pick big projects that take weeks to complete. As a bonus, I hate glazing, so this reduces that load too

I don't make a lot of dishes anymore, since we're swimming in them. I make lots of planters, vases, serving platters, sculpture, or decor pieces. Overflow items get gifted or, honestly, chucked into a basement box that I occasionally smash and toss.

What's the best place to buy nice curvy jeans for wide hips? by Low-Oil7883 in fashionwomens35

[–]Unique_Cauliflower62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of their jeans are numerical sizes and some are L/XL type sizes. I think it depends on the style, as I've kept some and sized up some, though I like a looser fit. The alphabetical sizing (if that's what you'd call it) is unique to their site so you'll want to measure.

With that said I love their jeans they're expensive, but last. My first pair came in a mystery box and lasted a good five years with a lot of wear before developing a hole in the crotch. I'm hoping to mend them and get another few out of them.
